The thing I hate the most.....

Yeah, I know you all care.... :loyal:

BUT..... .when someone says "they have to give her weight"...... David Nolan said it on the RaceHour preview..... about Marie's Rock, for the Stayers. IT'S FUCKING IRRELEVANT! There is no piece of form where that isn't the case, so it's just irrelevant. If at some point she ran and then she got an EXTRA 7lbs, amazing.... but it's not.

Stop fucking saying it. It makes literally no difference. Saying it is the dumbest thing in horse racing.

Agree Envoi. That is an absurd comment to make.

There wouldn't be a person in the room who doesn't know that in that grade all mares get 7lb from the geldings either, yet they say it like it's some hidden gem they've been keeping up their sleeve for just the right moment.

Honestly I used to enjoy when the previews began as it meant we was within weeks of the festival but it's become an industry of it's own,bit of easy money for an hour or so trotting out shit like "she gets 7LBS here" or "To stop him jumping right we're going to glue a horse to his shoulder" or some such nonsense, they offer so little now that the effort to hear that one interesting view isn't worth the hassle anymore.

I should go back to drinking in the evenings, I used to be much more jovial around 11pm,honest.

Sean Boyce picking American Mike as his Ballymore selection is up there in the absurd comments stakes.

Can't remember from last year but when bigger priced horses tipped in these preview nights get hammered in at the time, do they generally end up drifting back out over the next couple of weeks to the previous ish prices? Kicking myself a bit cos there was a horse I was gonna cover that was roughly 70s on exchange and forgot to go back and cover it today, been mentioned once and now its in the mid 20s range.

What a terrible preview.
Sean Boyce, to be involved in racing you would've thought he's have some idea of what's going on, sadly not. I was a a preview night a few years ago at The Cladderring in which SB was comparing, he tipped up a NR & a horse for the pertemps that was a stone out of making the cut, staggering. That said, chatting to him afterwards he came across as a really nice guy, maybe that's why he gets the gig?

….I thought it interesting Kevin Blake saying JoB didn’t have anything of note for handicaps. Said the Irish handicap chasers are at a big disadvantage because of the handicap but hurdlers have a chance. He was pessimistic the Stayers would be run to suit Home by the Lee.

Did you say these things to his face or thought you’d wait and share them with us :biggrin-new:

The Boylesports one is split into individual races but will probably flow on from this one - I think it is maybe a week old

The Cheltenham Festival is fast approaching so we hosted our Cheltenham Preview night, held at The Bardic Theatre in Tyrone in aid of SVP. Hosted by Racing Post’s David Jennings, panelists on the night included David Casey, Denis O’Regan, Peter Fahey, Robbie Power, Nicky Henderson (via video link), Tony Keenan, and Jonny Dineen. They discuss the who they fancy in the opening race of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival

I'm sure someone tipped something for today on one of these previews... I can't find it though. Anyone?

Did Codd say who he was riding in the NHC and Kim Muir last night?

Darragh o Keefe said his best ride of the week was sanibel island in the 2:40 at clonmel?

That's the one, cheers. :eagerness: Not sure how serious he was but give me something to do while waiting in A&E. Bit hopeful to think I'll be gone by 2:40

I've backed Sanibel Island today @ 5-1. in my L.15. Good Luck Benjy , for the A & E and Sanibel Island. :cheerful:.

I couldn't help but notice that Johnny Dineen is providing different selections on different preview nights.

For example, on the earlier post about the Preview Night at Quinlans Bar in Cork City in comparison with his Boylesports preview night he changed his selections:

Ryanair - Shishkin (Quinlans), Fury Road (Boylesports)
Bumper - A Dream To Share (Quinlans), Its For Me (Boylesports)

Should I just ignore him for the remainder of my analysis?

FYI - every year, I type up a Preview Cheat Sheet and do some statistics on the highest selected horses, happy to share to the forum if people were interested.

Good find there, Gilly. I wouldn't begrudge anyone to put up two for a race though. Yes, would like to see what you've got. I would temper caution to what we hear across all these evenings. Quite the mixed bag. It's obvious some people have done their homework, others, much less so. Thanks.

Be interested in the success of the various panelists, if you track that. :topsy_turvy:

Just had a look. That's an impressive piece of work and thanks for sharing.

Of course it comes with a warning, and that is - Beware. Past performance does not guarantee future results!!

Aye, thanks for sharing. Had a quick skim at the bits I was interested in based on recent content. Will have a proper look later.

Amazed the likes of David Mullins and Mickey Fogarty haven't managed to pick out Facile Vega as the bumper horse. Wasn't exactly hidden in the market. There's not even much notice to be taken when they're against Mullins as they've both got Run Wild Fred for example.

Codd looks to have a poor record as well and just puts up anything Elliot, unsurprisingly maybe.
