2023 Novice Hurdlers

Won't matter as he's already namechekced the Tolworth but being given an opening mark of 132 is very very lenient, A real shame you need 4 runs for the Betfair this year as he likes to send horses there and another run in a micky mouse novice he would of shat up in that off 132.

He probably would piss the betfair off a mark of 132. But I'm not sure 2 miles at newbury would see authorised speed anywhere near his best. The stiff finish and likely soft ground(trainers preference for the horse) for the tolworth make that a winnable grade 1 at 2miles. I'm fairly sure we won't see the best of Authorised speed until he's stepped up in trip for the ballymore. My main ante post fancy outside of the obvious ones.

Oh for sure the step up will be when we see the best of him and softer ground massively important back at 2m. He’s already being underestimated, hopefully he’s priced up on ratings as be few higher than him in the Tolworth.

Anyone know much about Ballyhigh running for Hendo tomorrow? He flagged in his stable tour, but it’s not in ante/post lists ?

Assume a Bally or Spuds candidate given opening at 2m 5

Nothing more but have seen Impose Toi with similar entries, which disappointed me as I thought he looked super over 2m in France. The Giant Bolster's work on Nicky Henderson Race Planning is worth a read (or multiple reads like I have).

His Ballymore runners are usually those that have disappointed over 2m where as in the AB Nicky has had no real luck and most of his runners SP has been quite big. Therefore no need to cover speculatively at this stage.

Neither race are an attractive ante post punt for Nicky Henderson.

She's entered up at Newbury next week. In the 2m4 maiden, didn't get an entry for the 2m but no idea if that is an eligibility thing or not

Good work with the obituaries updates by the way.
My grandad used to flick straight to the who's died page in the Sheffield Star.
He always seemed to know someone who'd died.
Bit frightening as a young child really.

I’d normally have those 4yo winners of 2m French bumpers as requiring an intermediate or staying trip over jumps. He did also win over shorter on his second start but I’d say the entries are a good indication of his trip personally.

My dad (91) still does the same with The Scotsman. A quick look over the 'hatches, matches and dispatches' every day.

That’s really good to note, why is it you expect the French bumpers to go further in distance?

Disappointing that entries have seemingly dried up for Quais De Paris after having looked certain to be making his Irish debut any day for a couple of weeks & even going so far as being declared but missing out on a run. Hopefully get to see him soon

See where you're coming from but I'm taking the (probably naive) approach that Willie is just waiting for the right race. I'll be worried about any novice that doesn't start before the new year. I'm not worried until then and actually think it indadvertently helped a lot of them starting later last year

Oh I assumed he just didn’t get in being 3rd reserve. Would explain the lack of entry since

No thats correct, he didn't get in due to being reserve but was entered again since but no dec, stone bruise being the reason.

Thanks for sharing. Very helpful. Nice of Willie to let us know.........again.

Plenty of time yet for him to get a couple of runs in. Stone Bruise shouldn't keep him out long.

Horses are dying and no one says anything
Ask RoadToCheltenham
never mind informing us of a maiden with a bruise
Willie basher!

A bruised Willie.......ouch !

Henderson's looked good in a very decent race in the first today. Altior colours. Could be quite smart. I'll keep an eye on him.

He won well on debut too, Nicky thinks he wants another half a mile. Guessing Jet Powered is still the supreme no 1 for the yard.
