It was just about my best result of the week but not sure I'll be quite as lucky again!

I got stuck into him in the ring and felt compelled to apologise when picking up.
For me Bob was totally out on his feet and interesting that a few judges are saying he should now target the Champion Hurdle…

I was surrounded by GDC punters. Think I was the only one out of our group of 8 who backed Bob.

I didn't cheer. Can't celebrate under those circumstances.

Bob won me a good chunk and had El Barra at 250/1 ew and 125/1 ew, so neither of those were going to collect. I might still have won the biggest winning distance of the week as I'd be fairly sure GDC was going to put a huge distance between himself and BO by the line.

Same. As a Bob and El Barra @ 250/1 backer, the difference in return from before the last (i.e. zero) to after it was crazy. A bit of a hollow victory, and thank goodness GDC was OK. But i guess that's racing and makes up for the times you feel you've been a little robbbed, TMSG and Langer Dan being brought down immediately springs to mind, though not perhaps on the same scale as GDC!

On a side note, massive shout to Bonjers, Exar Essay and punterorplonker for leading the charge on the El Barra shout (apologies if i missed anyone!). Such an unexpected gain from left field. Cheers, standing on the shoulders of giants and all that. :encouragement:

Really interesting piece my Simon Rowlands today on ATR. Has GDC 10 lengths down on Allaho at the last. I’d timed it as about 1.5 seconds down myself but thought I’d got it wrong.

As good as GDC looked, it does make you pause for thought. Makes me think something must’ve been up with Bob to me in trouble so far out too.

I think the two horses who didn't appear to run anywhere near a normal race were got at ? Or it looked like they were.........Shishkin and Bob , any thoughts ?

Yes I am alleging that they may have been 'got at' as in sabotage......have there been any rational explanation to the performances of both horses in regards to the poor showings ?

According to the Racing Post, Rachel heard Bob make a noise so it sounds like he may need wind surgery. As to Shishkin, Hendo seemed fairly confident it was solely down to the ground.

The least rational explanation is a baseless accusation of sabotage though, non?

Hendo wasn’t confident leading up to the race, I think Shishkin may be a difficult horse to get/keep right and he knew the horse wasn’t where he wanted him.
Perhaps that Clarence House win left it’s mark ?

I can appreciate GDC went much slower early doors than the Ryanair field which you'd expect given he was in a 2 runner tactical affair but if you split screen in from the first fence on the last circuit(when he actually starts to race and get in rhythm) to the Ryanair it's actually mental, I say that as I don't doubt he could of gone the early pace that the Ryanair field did. Ignoring what horses are out there at present he looks another intermediate star, not to say he can't be over further given his high cruising speed but He's already in the 170 bracket.

I'm not talking through my pocket as I was well in profit.......I just think the horses were all over the place particularly Shishkin , Bob out on his feet ? Baseless.........perhaps !

You have provided zero evidence for interference beyond "they ran badly", so yeah, baseless

"They ran badly" that's the official line.........two of the best horses run badly and everyone is happy with the "it wasn't me a big boy done it and ran away" justification......my my the third verdict 'Not Proven' M'lud.........after all they are only animals , there's a good chap "shut up Pendil". Are we of the collective belief that nothing like this can happen..........

This is going in circles. No one is denying that horses being "got" happens. No one is telling you to shut up. But. Well fancied horses run badly all the time, especially on heavy ground and when they go straight through the 4th last fence. You're the one saying they were interfered with, so the onus is on you to prove that, rather than scurrilous insinuation and as yet, baseless conspiracy. But the childish nature of your response suggests you aren't a good faith actor and we should all draw a line under this and move on

There always seems to be a sense of irony with Bob Olinger.

Last season, Archie, quite rightly, mentioned the fragility of his dams line, mostly for the fillies produced rather than the colts, and lo and behold it was Bob Olingers first opponent over hurdles, Ferny Hollow, that ended up being fragile and missing the season.

This season, in the build up to the Turners there were quite a few doubts about Bob Olingers jumping holding up, and then, you guessed it, he was the beneficiary of the last fence fall by Galopin Des Champs.

In both instances both opinions had a degree of merit to them, yet I find it funny how it actually ends up playing out.

Anyone fancy doubting Bob Olinger for next season? :highly_amused:
