…might be wrong but I think the Thinker won in the snow and the meeting was abandoned. I was there too, got off to a great start with Observe winning the first with Francome on board at 16-1. Good memory.

Great memories from that day even though i only backed Half Free, but the beer kitty money went on The Thinker so i didn't go thirsty!! Observe won the Foxhunter under Charlie Brookes and was the 2nd on the card after the Triumph i think. Johnny won the Cathcart on him 3 or 4 years earlier.

Racing delayed by about an hour and a helicopter flew low over the track to help clear the snow. Everyone hit the bars and got royally pissed and a streaker ran up the straight and dived over the finish line before the GC. Sorry about the after-timing but I backed The Thinker at 33-1. One of many great days but for me Dawn Run’s GC and the scenes in the paddock afterwards probably topped the lot even though I couldn’t back her...didn’t think her jumping would hold up.

Grade One-winning hurdler Ahoy Senor is set to make his novice-chasing debut in the coming weeks.

A ?50,000 purchase after impressing in a wide-margin point-to-point victory in November, the Dylan Thomas gelding filled the runner-up spot in an Ayr bumper on his first start for Lucinda Russell, before going one better on his hurdling bow at the Scottish venue at the start of March.

Ahoy Senor was a widely unconsidered 66-1 shot when stepped up to the highest level at Aintree the following month, but produced a dominant front-running performance to ensure he heads into the new campaign as one of the most exciting prospects in the north.

Russell is keen for her stable star to make a low-key beginning to his career over fences – identifying a race at the Charlie Hall meeting at Wetherby as a potential starting point.

She said: “I’m really pleased with him. He’s summered very well and is in full work.

“He’s just a couple of pieces of work off a race really. Chasing is definitely the plan, and we’re looking forward to it.”

Wherever Ahoy Senor begins his chasing career, expectations will inevitably be high.

Russell added: “It’s quite a responsibility having a horse like him, but it’s a good situation to be in.

“We might start low and go to Hexham or Carlisle or Wetherby. There’s a three-mile novice chase at the Charlie Hall meeting, so maybe we’ll go to Wetherby for that.

“There’s no pressure. We’ll start small and see how we get on.”

It's probably nothing, and hopefully just a slip of the finger but someone matched Bob Olinger in the Marsh at 10.0 on the exchanges most recently, albeit for ?4 :uncomfortableness:

This sends shivers down my spine - my exposure to Bob is considerably more than to Monkfish!

RSA all the way I say

I’m comfortably covered on Marsh, and reasonably well covered at the 20/1 prices for the RSA. Just nervous Bob might do a Monkfish and not turn up at all!

Sounds like you might have a few sleepless nights this winter, if you're nervous already. Can't wait to see how he attacks his fences.

Could happen to anyone. Can't worry like that.

I’ve just backed Busselton in the Will Hill TWAR market at 22/1 e/w before his 4th Chase tomorrow at Tipperary. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by his progress over fences so far but can’t work out if connections think he’s better over fences than hurdles and ploughing on with him to qualify for a big spring target early or they are just pot hunting early season before the better horses turn up. I can’t say I have a lot of faith in Joseph O’Brien as a National Hunt trainer when my money is at stake but the lad is the potential heir to a horse racing empire and he’s achieved more in racing than I have and always will and he’s half my age.
Busselton ran a stinker in the Boodles at the last festival after impressing beforehand and was a genuine selection of mine for the Boodles. I can’t work out where his planned path is but I suspect they are qualifying him early and resting him for the spring to have a go at a big pot handicap in Ireland or the NHC or Kim Muir at the Festival. He’s only 4 so still a young horse so hopefully has many years of chasing in front of him. 1pt e/w on Busselton TWAR Will Hill 22/1 e/w. I don’t think he will win tomorrow but if he does then he will start featuring at the top of many Festival markets.

Skybet have priced Busselton up at 14/1 TWAR…..all thanks to me…..10pts to the TKP :watermelon:

That Fred Winter form is turning out to be half decent. Interesting runners tomorrow, difficult to go against HDB and GE tomorrow but.... he could run really well tomorrow

I can’t quite work out tomorrow’s race, there is a clear lack of depth but a whole load of potential. I backed Fan De Blue every race last season so he still owes me a big race but I can’t work if Busselton & GoL are in the race for experience, in it to win it or on the handicap path.

Busselton is on my radar as well T.K.P , since he won at Listowel a couple of weeks ago , looking hot .
I didn't realise he was so young , but obviously has taken to chasing like a duck to water.
I suppose there would be a question mark about the n.h.chs. regards his age , but definitely one to watch .

I think Gin On Lime loves the trip, I'd still have her going for the Mares Chase over the Arkle personally, but who knows!

I'm hopeful of an entry for the Arkle trial at Cheltenham in November after that demolition job. Halved in price for that.
