Ontheropes is worth getting priced up with Bet365 for the NHC now that he has an entry in the Kerry National

Was just coming on here to talk about this ha! Great minds!

I’ve had him priced up at 20/1 TWAR with Hills (22/1 with boost).

He’s only had that one Chase start where he was beaten by Monkfish but the form of that race is pretty good. The Galmoy hurdle 1st & 2nd in behind him along with 3rd in last seasons NHC.

He didn’t look like he was stopping at the line either. Nice to see he’s got an entry and must be in good health :teapot:

I agree,i've been waiting for an entry. They had him at 33/1 a while back didn't realise he'been removed. His 2nd to EA was a good run and his (poor) 4th at punchestown qualified him for the NH chase

Agree OTR is a very worthy pick for the NHC. Backed him last year so will have to add this.

Just noticed Galvin back in Elliots on RP...missed that news!

He is entered in the Kerry National next Wednesday.

He was always going back to Gordon.
Ronnie Bartlett uses Ian Ferguson and Gordon Elliott for different complementary parts of his racing empire.

Ferguson isn't a front line trainer for him.

Yeah i know all that, but it wasn't confirmed anywhere he was certain to be going back that's all.

Personally I'd rather not see him until Feb, that National mark could get blown….

Haha, I know what you mean,

He won’t be off until February though.

The autumn is when he ran last season, I would expect to see him next week.

….whilst it might not be a primary target, I imagine the Gold Cup has not been ruled out for Galvin. 40-1 with cash-out.

If he got to the national on a mark of 154, he'd likely be my biggest be of all time. I'm just praying they protect his mark.

I guess the Kerry National could be a significant indicator of his seasons targets, it’s a big pot but if he’s covered up out the back and not asked for effort then I think you get the perfect storm, bookies push his National price out on strength of a poor effort but we’ll be confident his mark is being protected.
Though there isn’t any obvious logic running a horse in September if protecting a mark for April…

Not sure why i mentioned Galvin in the Novice Chase thread, forgive me!

I guess it's a massive pot and Ravenhill went here off a much lower 137 and then onto the Troytown where he fell. They weren't exactly that worried to protect the mark with him if things had went to plan and at first he was Kim Muir bound at the festival that year.

I'd doubt he'll run, it's worth noting this race hasn't been a massive target of his over the last few years, he's still had runners, but not his standard 5+ like in every other Grade A chase in Ireland!

I wonder if he did run if it would be a sign that they were holding everything back in the XC for Tiger Roll to get the record(?) 6th Festival win? Might have to re-evaluate my current antepost positioning...
