Henderson was very vocal on not sending Dame Du Compagnie there for that very reason. Perhaps to early to conclude but not perhaps for others to infer.

Wouldnt suit Hendo as hed actually have to run a horse a few times for her to get the necessary experience to go outside of novice company

You cant really say that. All the winners of the Mares Chase have been Novices

I said not many, if any, would run. From our only example we have, only 2 of the 11 (18%) runners were novices. One was Colreevy, whom as we know won, and other was Zambella. I think my point holds. It would seem an odd race to target ante post with a novice given that. That said, if you get a very big price they it may be worth the roll of the dice.

What i would say is that when there is a high quality novice mare like colreevy id say they will quite often run in the mares chase as it'll be easier to win than the marsh chase most years

I would agree the general point that a novice may target the race if it is deemed their best chance of victory but other novice chases or even handicaps could be more tempting for the novices.

Im interested in gars de sceaux if he will be going chasing i think he will be a good horse over a fence and ive done 36/1 for the rsa with hills boost..his last tun at 2m 6f over hurdles was solid and he done it without being asked any questions

I like him as well looked to improve every time he stepped up in distance. For that reason I've backed him at a boosted 55-1 for the NH Chase.

Well ive based my rsa bet on i beleive hell be a grade 1 horse and maybe elliot has something more battle hardened for the national hunt but at this moment in time i just hope it goes chasing!

Me too. I'm on at decent prices for the NHC after being seduced by the Gordon Elliot / National Hunt Chase love affair story. I think he will definitely go chasing but I'm not convinced he will end up in either the RSA or NHC. He may end up being Gordon's Kim Muir horse or he may be targeted at another staying chase in Ireland. One to follow though for definite.

If GDS turns out Gordon's best staying Novice chaser then he'll go RSA rather than NHC.

I agree. Either that or he’ll be a graded horse in one of the two 3 mile handicaps. He has others for the NH Chase. I think Elliott will plot one for the Ultima this season, and it could possibly be Gars de Sceaux.

That was my thoughts. Wasn't sure of race target but definitely a handicap over a good distance.

Hello everyone, first time poster so play nice!
I just wanted to put Ahoy Senor up as a value selection for the BANC,40/1 with cashout seems pretty good to me for a grade 1 winning novice hurdler. His form can be tied in with the Ballymore and Albert Bartlett and he jumped very slickly for an inexperienced horse.Connections have said chasing so with Bravemansgame only 14/1 and beaten fair and square surely this lad is value

Hi Black Dog! Welcome!

I have seen Ahoy Senor talked about recently and I totally get the angle. I watched the Aintree run back recently, he was really impressive!

however, Aintree has a tendency to throw up odd results due to it being after a long season etc.

I suppose the question is, do you think BMG was at his best & do you think the result would stay the same if they met again (over a fence next season)?
