2022 Grand National

If the ground has any description of ‘good’ in it, I really struggle to see what beats Cloth Cap if he jumps round. He’s a stone well in, would have his ground, is a proven stayer, looks a much better horse this season (a change in routine the reason) and has a touch of class in a handicap like this (Ladbrokes winner).

He’s already a big winner for me and still my only bet in the race but I’ll be going in again if someone goes 5/1 on the day as another each way bet to nothing.

Yeah, easy to see why.

Do you usually go to the National? I love the buzz of the place and have it on a par with Cheltenham.

Love the national FM!

Bus load from up here, down to Blackpool for the weekend and obviously to the racing for the big one on the Saturday.

Very, very messy indeed :very_drunk::excitement:

Sounds like my kind of weekend:very_drunk::very_drunk:

Have done the 3 days for the last few years now - such fun! The atmosphere and experience on course is so different to Cheltenham. So relaxed in comparison. Much better drink options especially and the city is brilliant :very_drunk:.

Love them both in their own way. I always take the race season seriously up to Cheltenham and the 6 weeks or so after is just pure enjoyment. Aintree, Sandown, Cheltenham hunter chase evening/Punchestown and finish off at Stratford for their hunter chase evening. The improving weather helps!

I really need to lower my expectations

I have pretty much convinced myself burrows saint is going to win

Keep having to remind myself this is the grand national thats not how it works hahaha

If that's your thinking then start smashing up the place on Betfair 4 place market at around 15/8, if it gets round you shouldn't be needing the extra places and lower fraction anyway....it's better than you'll get at the bookies , and do the win on Betfair too as bound to be higher..

Given that the phrase 'if he jumps round' is the key, each way wouldn't the option that I'd be looking at.

Cloth Cap is, self-evidently, well handicapped but 4/1 is very skinny for a horse that hasn't been over these fences before. I'd have thought that he wins well or fails to complete.

"If he jumps round" not the biggy it used to be. Remember the last renewal where there were 38 horses still in contention at fence 18 of the 30?!
Looks like an average of around 10-12 runners that get caught out by the fences these days.
Not so sure that 4/1 is as skinny as it looks at first sight.

I like Acapella Bourgeois for the GN. He is 12lb well in against Burrows Saint yet is still available at 33/1

Already on it bud. Totally agree with you about the 15/8

This morning's going report. Sporting Life suggesting they will be watering again tomorrow.

Re Cloth Cap, we don't know how well he is handicapped v the Irish horses. The Irish Absolutely decimated the rest at the festival . I personally think they'll dominate the places in the GN as well with Burrows Saint leading the way.

Hes definitely well in but I cant have him as a 162 horse at all

Think that is as inflated as royale pagailles mark

Somewhere in the mid 150s probably much more realistic as to his actual level of ability

Off 148 if he gets into a jumping rhythm when not given an easy lead like the last twice he looks to have a knocking chance

Still firmly aboard the burrows saint train though and hoping townend is fully fit by next saturday

Secret Reprieve needs three to come out. The number coming out from this stage to the final decs in the last three renewals has been 1, 3 and 2

First proper glance and i like the storyteller.

I wonder if bet365 will do their each way money back special this year ? It's a great offer.
