2022 Grand National

Bet365 returning half of your stake on e/w bets

So say you have ?10 e/w they will immediately credit your account with ?10 so you could add another for ?5 e/w for nothing then another for ?2.50 e/w for nothing and so on

Good way to back a few big priced ones

I’ve done this with Double Shuffle, small stakes on 5 places all the way up to 10 places

Added 4pts each way FARCLAS at 20-1 1/4 1-5 with half the stake refunded under the B365 offer.

Usually avoid 7-year-olds for the National because of their lack of experience/stamina - I see the last 7-year-old winner was back in 1940.

But Farclas won the Triumph (good sign) and has been running well in some top class handicaps this season - 3 lengths second to The Shunter at the Festival when trying to give him 13lbs was a pretty heroic effort.

Yes, nearly all his races have been at trips short of 3m. His only try at 3 miles was in the Paddy Power where he was a staying on third - now better off at the weights with runner-up Minella Times. (who I'm on at 45-1).

Regarding age, 3 of the last 5 winners were 8 - including Tiger Roll (another Triumph winner) for his first Aintree success.

Farclas is obviously from the right stable for this race and it's interesting that Jack has chosen him over Milan Native - on the face of it the more likely GN horse - who he also rode at the Festival.

Farclas is set to carry the lowest weight he's had to shoulder since his flat racing days - and he goes well on good/good to soft ground which will also help him get the trip.

The only time he's tackled big fields over obstacles has been this season where his record is 5/17. 4/22. 3/22, 2/21 - the last 3 with Jack on board.

At effective odds of 40-1 he'll do for me each way despite the age and trip concerns.

He could just be Giggsy's next Tiger Roll!!!!

PS: Good luck to Faugheen Machine in landing ANOTHER big one with Discorama who we climbed on board last April.

Timeform have also given him the second-highest weight-adjusted rating in the race behind Cloth Cap.

4 for me against the field:

Anibale Fly
Lake View Lad
Mister Malarky
Milan Native

And a real longshot to do a Freewheelin Dylan:

Minellacelebration has won 7 and placed three in chases at 3miles or more. 100-1.

Only bet Cheltenham festival all year but do give myself the luxury of a GN bet every year. Gone for Burrows Saint 5pts Ew @14/1 and Takingrisks 2.5pts Ew @50/1, both top 5 with Paddies.

Patrick mullins on burrows saint

Not sure how to feel about that tbh

Gutted townend won't be on

Patrick has a top record over the big fences so not disappointed at all.

Was today not the first time he'd ever won over the national fences? I thought he said that post race

If he gives the horse a ride of the quality he gave LLL I will be delighted

I'm now just worried about how he will handle the sharp left turns

A Burrows Saint win & Double Shuffle in the top 10 would be lovely please!

If the ground is on the soft side how confident will Cloth Cap backers be?

When I say top record I just mean completing the National course not winning over it ! :excitement:

I keep hearing the line trotted out that cloth cap is 14lb well in

Cant have that at all

If he's a 162 horse il eat my hat

Aso beaten 50 lengths in the gold cup and 100 lengths (behind tiger roll even) yesterday

hes so far below his best these days

Two for gold was awful in the topham today before unseating jumping as poorly as he did at kelso

He may well win as he's got a few lbs in hand and jumps well

But 14lbs? Not for me

For anyone interested Cloth Cap is boosted to 13/2 with Paddy P.

Doesn't look like there’s a limit either.

Price is a little better but I’m similar to FF91 above. He could have lbs well in hand and if taking to the fences will have a great chance. I just feel in races like the national which is so unique, horses (tiger excluded) shouldn’t be sub 10/1 imo.

Nothing in the race has proved that good a horse to be sub 10/1 imo. Now a previous winner like Tiger he went off 5/1mfor his second national win, how can the bookies have Cloth Cap in the same league as Tiger when he’s not even been over the national fences yet.

On the other hand he does have proven stamina so that should not be an issue.

For me, all about price and once again bookies are taking the piss with Cloth Cap. Yes he was available at bigger antepost of course but his price now is shocking imo.

Clerk put down an extra 6mms last night.....seems excessive to me

We may be in danger of overlooking the obvious in the first today in Wherling Dervish. Hes been running on soft and heavy so todays a new challenge but he rallied well last time off top weight over a slightly shorter trip than today so the extra distance should suit. Basically hes an irish horse in a handicap this week, it cant be ignored.

Ive already backed Kid Commando at 28/1 with pp lasg night, but will be covering wherling too

That’s about as good a strategy as there is at the moment Jrow!

1:45 Wherling Dervish
2:25 Ballyadam
3:35 Diol Ker

Blindly backed as they are irish, but also do have very good chances :chuncky:

Not with how dry and sunny it’s been GG.

They will know how well/much the ground dried yesterday as conditions look to be the same today.

I did the same but replaced Ballyadam with deal dreal !

Takingrisks and Mister Malarky have come in from over 50-1 to teens the last while. I know Codd tipped up Mister Malarky. Did anyone else tip either?
