Guily billy?

If he stays in bumpers then he’s worth a bet but I’m still of the opinion he’ll be jumping hurdles this season.

Guily billy?

…..given it’s a best price 25-1 for the Bumper, the 22-1 a/r offer (with boost) from Hills could be the way to go (only 14-1 a/r with Sky).

Couple weeks time for the Down Royal meeting and we should be 80% closer to knowing who Elliott will see as his main bumper contender for the season.

Although having said that, with the loss of owners etc do we think he may be keen to get potential bumper horses straight over obstacles that would normally stay in bumpers for a season?

Gordon hasn’t really lost that many owners and he was still purchasing the bulk of top sellers at the sales. I’d expect him to have a good few decent bumper horses to go to war with. It wasn’t just Cheveley horses that he targeted the bumper with, most of his other big owners had runners in the Champion Bumper too.

A very solid and good point.

Any you fancy so far JM?

The two from Gordon’s that I currently like are Au Fleuron and Cool Survivor. Au Fleuron won a PtP bumper during the interrupted season and he looks like he’d be sharp enough to go far in bumpers and not just be filling time before jumping. The only downside is that he’s already won a bumper so could be harder to place. Cool Survivor won a point but again seems pacy enough to do well in bumpers. Gordon also has American Mike who I’ve seen mentioned a bit, but he looks a proper chaser and I’d think he’ll be one that is minded this season if they keep him to bumpers.

Never knew they ran PTP bumpers!

Au Fleuron is one I’m really interested in as well. Jamie Codd gave some very good words about him in JTF. He mentioned he could go either way bumpers or hurdling which is why I’ve been hesitant to pull the trigger yet but being only 4 I can see him being kept in bumpers this year. The morans don’t really have bumper horses (only one I can remember is queens Brook) but they normally purchase staying chasers, and AF does look to have a bit of pace about him. He’s got the same sire as Buveur D’air as well.

Now that I’ve seen someone else mention him I may take the plunge and back him

I'm interested in Bellatior. Beautifully bred half sister to Altior, sold for 300,000 Euro's at the 2020 Tattersalls Irish Derby Sale and entered to run at Punchestown on Tuesday 12th.

Wonder would she be kept till Down Royal if she was high in the pecking order?

Confirmation from stable tour that Guily Buily won’t be going into Bumpers

“He looked an exciting horse when winning his point-to-point. He’s been working well, and we’ll look to start him off in a maiden hurdle in the next few weeks. We’ll probably start him off over two-and-a-half miles.”

I had about 3 or 4 potentials raring to go for this.............now they all seem to be going hurdlng :grief::disgust:

Does everyone think that Cheveley Park Stud will have a runner in the bumper still? With Guily Builly going over hurdles does that mean either Grangeclare West or Classic Getaway must run in it? I know Patrick said they will both go hurdles, but if he told me the sky was blue I wouldn't believe him!

I think most people backed Classic Getaway at 25/1 early doors, but are people still confident that he will be the bumper horse, I know when they bought him Cheveley Park Stud said that's another horse to try and win the bumper with, so they had bought him with the intent to go to the bumper, and their most expensive purchase has gone down that route, plus the bookies suggest he will go there. Should that be enough to think he will?

Also if he was going hurdles with all the hype behind him and experts suggesting that he needs a trip, looking at skybet bet Grangeclare has gone from 20/1 into 16/1 and Classic Getaway has been pushed out from 16/1 to 20/1...shouldn't that be the other way round?

Surely CPS will want to have a go at winning the bumper again....?

Na, all 3 will go over hurdles both CP and the trainers have said it. If Willie was keeping his two for a bumper he would have left them off for the summer and not ran them last season. Once they run with him before the summer writing is on the walls hes kicking on over hurdles next season

With the operation winding down and no more jumps horses imagine they'll kick on and try win some more of the bigger races i.e getting horses towards championship races a year earlier.
