2017 Cheltenham JLT

They are my three. I was trying to pick something out at 33/1+ NRNB but couldn't find any guaranteed runners at those odds.

Good angle..starting to think might be worth backing the 3 of them !

The NRNB odds divided by Betfair odds should be a rough guide to horses chance of running in any one contest ?

On that basis

Yorkhill
Top Notch
Disko
Politogue all go here

Coney Island might be too - but same % for RSA so also 50:50?
Charbel - 50:50
Whisper 33% chance ?

Didn't someone post a quote on here saying that Whisper was JLY bound?

Nothing to lay on Whisper for JLT on Betfair.

A bit weak for RSA too.

Hendo confirmed Top Notch and Whisper in this race. Politilogue and Frodon for Nicholls I'm sure I've read? Disko ... No other obvious ones though.

Another Ante post gone up in flames, had TN @ 14's for the Arkle :( only 4/1 for this the last time I looked.

Hendo has confirmed Whisper for both the JLT and RSA :highly_amused:

I'm working on the assumption that the RSA was a mistake :encouragement:

I'm in a cracking position in this race. With a bit of luck and Altior winning this is an "all green" kinda race for me at the moment - Smaller the field, the better!

Ruby on Yorkhill

“I wouldn’t get off him for anything else. (The last day was) typical Yorkhill. Take out his beginners’ chase and I don’t know how he ended up winning so far… probably ‘cos they were just an ordinary bunch of horses. He won a bumper two and a quarter lengths with Patrick at Punchestown; he’s down the straight flogging him and he couldn’t pull him up. That’s just him.”

“I think the JLT is the obvious race… I’d say he has the pace but could I see him dropping back (in trip)? I don’t know. It’ll all depends…. As true as God I’ll say he’ll run in the JLT and he’ll run in the Arkle. At this stage I’m used to being wrong!”

What about jumping left? “Ah he’ll be grand. He’ll be fine.”

Nicky Henderson admits to being in a quandary as to exactly which race Whisper will be aimed towards at Cheltenham next month.

A high-class hurdler before switching to fences for one start, the Dai Walters-owned nine-year-old has returned to novice chasing this season, winning twice at Cheltenham, most recently in the Dipper Novices' Chase on New Year's Day.

"I do keep umming and ahhing. I've always thought he was a JLT horse, but a lot of people are trying to convince me three miles might be better. I want to talk to Davy Russell (retained rider for Walters), he can advise me on what he he thinks," said Henderson.

"If he is nearly favourite for the RSA that tells me something about the race. We have Top Notch in the JLT, but it is not the case that one horse makes a difference. It is a close call."

Also, delighted by those comments Rowebot :encouragement: I was resigned to Yorkhill being supplemented, and until the final declarations I won't get too excited!

Patrick Mullins very bullish about Yorkhill in the JLT today in the RP podcast...

Seriosuly dissapointed if he gets beat

Pretty clear he wants to stay clear of Altior and also put Charbel up as most likely to follow Altior home

Yeah he was. Got asked about taking on Altior and suggested the JLT is the easier race.

Everything looks perfect so far.... what could POSSIBLY go wrong

I just can't get excited until I know it is a sure thing.

I need Yorkhill for a double with DDS. If he turns up in this (looking quite likely but you never know with Willie), he surely should be winning this?

I am not as confident as I'd like to be.

First battle is him getting there.

Second battle is him not jumping left and through the rails

Third is him staying in front when he gets to the front after the last fence. (Assuming Ruby can leave it that late)

I agree with you. I have the problem that all I have on DDS is a 4pt win and Yorkhill holds the other 3pts with DDS involved.

Henderson pretty sure Whisper will go for JLT but door still open for RSA. "He stays three miles so it's possible."
Different Gravey could run in the Pendil with the JLT in mind; his recent schooling has been excellent
"Top Notch has grown all the way, but faces a tough task against Yorkhill."
