2017 Champion Hurdle

I am cynical Gents but with good reason, someone with good connection would have made a few quid.

So with the race now has a 13/8 fav who hasn't seen a racecourse for over a year.
I'm already heavily in to Yanworth, what price Alan Kings horse is Faugheen flops this weekend ?

WOuld VVM come in for the race and be fav? I was AMAZED at Christmas when Yanworth was a shorter price than her, but that could have been because of the probability of her not lining up which of course she didn't.

I can't see Yanworth being fav on the day of the race in any circumstance. I backed at 14s so I wouldn't be upset if he did... but If Faugheen doesn't make it, MUllins will bring in VVM or Yorkhill and I do think either would be fav.

Petit Mouchoir could run well Sunday and be very close to 2nd fav too? OR Nichols Canyon :devilish:

Pipe could be tempted to bring MR into the mix if Faugheen doesn't impress. 40/1 we shot seems a decent bet, he's as short as 16/1 nrnb.

I think the 16/1 is a bit stingy? If he is an actual honest 16/1 shot in the Champion Hurdle he should he 6/4 not 6/1 in the Supreme?

I have got 0.5 EW at 50s though :very_drunk:

Totally agree kev

Is he not just priced up at 16/1nrnb, because the only instance he's likely to run, is if Faugheen bombs?

Wouldn't be for me, regardless, however, it just seems like the bookies ensuring that they don't negative freeroll themselves.

Yeah Tim probably, but I don't think 16s each way would tempt me if Yanworth and VVM we're in it.... if anything the field would be much bigger reducing the chances of placing?

As I said, I have actually backed it, just don't think I would back at 16s W/O Faugheen e/w for example.

Agree 100%

Wouldn't tempt me, but I can see why they have priced it as such.

I've backed it for the Supreme, so will be hoping Pipe hasn't been in his old man's med cabinet :D

FAUGHEEN out of the irish champion tomorrow!

What a bad couple of days for the Mullins stable

He surely cannot be winning a Champion Hurdle on seasonal debut? Mullins reckons he may have run out of prep races for him.

Unconventional ... but a stone below his best could be good enough?

Certainly very hard to take any positives though if you're on Faugheen

Wonder how easy a pulled muscle is to recover from.. They say for every week they have off it takes 2 to get them fit.. If faugheen can't work for 3 weeks and it takes 6 to get him in shape.. I have a funny feeling there is a big shake up coming in the coming days!

I agree, I think anyone who wants to have a bet on anything but for Faugheen should get it on asap

Makes my 33/1 on petit mouchoir look ok.. Need a big run tomorrow though, have a nagging feeling NC will turn the form around

Cracking bet. My gut is telling me NC will turn it round but when I look at it on paper im not too sure

I'm also on Petit Mouchoir at 33-1, he's very uncomplicated, but I hear what your saying about Nicholas Canyon, he was awful over xmas, must surely be better tomorrow!

NC never ran well at Leopardstown has he. Not a betting race tomorrow. Both NC and PM are in my book already for the festival but I can't get excited about either. What an anti-climax the Tuesday will be if either of those horses is the Champion Hurdler.

Completely agree Kev, if Faugheen doesn't turn up, how disappointing

Yes hardly vintage are they! I've got Yanworth at 16's in not the greatest 4 fold...with Admiral Chief, Diamond King & Battleford. But I can't get excited about Yanworth, wide open should Faugheen not make it.

Theres just nothing that jumps out at me. Such a boring market to look at I think
