Updates from the yard. Coneygree is recovering at a flying pace enjoying sara riding him out again. #watchthisspace

I can't have Coneygree again, surely not, this year is much much tougher

Gordon Elliott visit: If Cooper chooses Don Poli, the trainer has options- Davy Russell, Richard Johnson or Barry Geraghty

Not often you see a quote like this from a trainer in public regarding a jockey. Tweeted by Channel 4 racing.

Quote of the day from G Elliott: "Don Cossack got a deplorable ride from Bryan Cooper in the Ryanair." Still wants him on horse for Gold Cup

Fair play to Gordon, I was waiting on Don Cossack for about £1,500 that day and couldn't believe what I was watching.

If Cooper picks Don Poli, which looks a done deal now, Gordon will be delighted with Davy Russell.

But Elliott said: "I don't know if Bryan is going to ride him (Don Cossack).

"I hope he does, but if he doesn't, I'll have my arm around him as he's a big part of our team.

"He might ride Don Poli (pictured below), he might ride Road To Riches, he might ride Valseur Lido, I don't know.

"I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't ride our horse. The Willie Mullins factor is a lot bigger than the Gordon Elliott factor.

"No matter what anyone says, if Willie bounces out and has three winners on Tuesday, it has to be at the back of your mind.

"I think if the ground came up on the softer side, Bryan would definitely ride Don Poli.

"If he doesn't ride Don Cossack, Davy Russell is there, Barry Geraghty is there and there's Richard Johnson. All them lads don't have rides in the Gold Cup.

"Davy sat on him the other day and I wouldn't have any problem with him riding the horse.

"There was really nothing to him riding the horse the other day. It just made sense for Bryan to ride No More Heroes as he'll definitely be riding him in the RSA.

"Cheltenham is a long way away and there won't be a shortage of jockeys to ride him.

"Bryan says he won't decide until declaration time what he's going to ride. I'm sure in the back of his head he knows what he's going to ride, but he's not telling any of us.

"There'll be no pressure on him. I'm hoping I'll win the Gold Cup, but if I don't and he's on another horse I'll be cheering him on."

Elliott had suggested Don Cossack might be fitted with cheekpieces in the Gold Cup, but Elliott said: "I'm 99.9 per cent sure he won't have any headgear.

"Around Leopardstown the other day he jumped and travelled and did everything right and if the ground came up on the better side he definitely won't.

"If it came up on the softer side he might, but I don't think he will.

"I was delighted with him in Leopardstown the other day.

"He'll have one more nice piece of work. He'll do plenty of cantering at home and will have one more day away and that will be it."

A question I am getting asked a lot at the moment is whether I’ll ride DON COSSACK or DON POLI in the Gold Cup and my honest answer is that I have not decided yet. It’s great to have the choice and it’s a good position to be in from my point of view. DON POLI has won both of his starts this year, including the Lexus at Leopardstown at Christmas and he’s going into Cheltenham very fresh. On the other hand, DON COSSACK has had a very good year, bar the King George at Cheltenham, where he was unlucky at the second last. It’s so hard to choose between them, so I need to take my time and make sure I make the right decision. This year’s Gold Cup is very competitive though, and I think Willie’s two - VAUTOUR and DJAKADAM - pose a big threat along with CUE CARD, so there’s lots to compete with.

Rich Ricci is very unsure about Vautour, Gold cup all nothing, hasn't been himself back home but still has 10days till the big day

Preparing the excuse not to run 2 of his against each other I reckon, Djakadam Gold Cup, Vatour Ryanair or NR

I think very much both going for Gold Cup - Vautour won't run in this years Ryanair

That's what they've been saying all year but Ricci has never sent 2 of his into battle before in this race and (although I'm sure there have been occasions) I can't remember Ricci having 2 runners in any Chelt race.
We all hope he follows it through as we want to see the best horses race againsgt each other

At tonight's preview said Ruby will choose and Townsend will have the other.

Vautour is a tricky horse. I would take the negative Ricci comments at face value.

Maybe Vautour's participation depends on Betbright's liabilities, perhaps they are also finding niggles with Douvan, should be able to bank a few mill before the fez if they pull those two out, in addition to other major liabilities avoided.:grumpy:

I think Ricci pulled £100m out of Barclays ....why would he bother ?

Then again I was a bit puzzled as to why he is arsed with Betbright until I saw that Betty Power has a market cap of £11.29 BILLION

I would say Betbrights and ALL other bookies liabilities. If your liability was £3m on a horse, you would much prefer to pay 1m for that horse not to run. Multiply that my others willing to pay and you just turned a multi over night.

The problem is that there is no such thing as enough money for a banker

Djakadam fans

In the last decade 103 horses that have run at the Cheltenham Festival off the back of a last time out fall. Only Rivage D'or in the Cross Country has won.

Rumours of a further setback to Vautour tonight. Fingers crossed that it's all bollocks.

Ricci not running his horse, because people might have backed it with BetBright :highly_amused:
