2016 Champion Hurdle

Yes I think the connections would love to match Istabraq's 3 in a row then go on to beat that and become an all time great.
 
I'd love to see him jump a fence one day as i think he has the ability to win a gold cup.

I doubt we'll ever see it though.
 
I wouldn't go as far to say that he would win a GoldCup, i know willie did debate who to send over fences when both Faugheen and Vautour were over hurdles but i think they made the right choice, the way Faugheen takes his hurdles, apart from today, i think his jumping over fences would take a lot of brushing up, he's the stables new Hurricane Fly and thats where he belongs in my eyes
 
I met the man who bred Faugheen at the festival last year and he really wanted them to run over fences this year, saying he was made for for the job.

It's not going to happen because of the strength in depth of Ricci's horses but it would be great for racing if they gave it a go.

could both be the real deal.

Staying sound is also a challenge. I really though Ricci was tempting fate when he started talking yesterday about how good Douvan would be next year. Willie has a better record than all at getting horses back to the Festival (Quevega) but records exist for a reason.

My Tent Or Yours and Hargam will work over four hurdles at Kempton this afternoon, in between the two chase races at 2.15pm and 2.50pm.

Barry Geraghty takes the ride on My Tent Or Yours while a certain Sir AP McCoy will be aboard Hargam.

I’ll be back later today with an update on how they went, plus a full preview of our runners over the weekend.


Does that mean MTOY not going to Wincanton ?
 
I wouldn't read too much into a racecourse gallop. I got too excited about the one Sprinter done last season before returning to the course.

Me too KSS. But gotta keep the faith. Modus and MTOY are in most of my accas.
 
This could be more of a stamina test than people think if Aristo du Plessis takes his chance, goes from the front in a similar fashion to Faugheen so may give that one a lead for first mile or so. Can't see him staying there in this but would more or less ensure an end to end gallop which would see off anything with the slightest stamina doubt
 
Faugheen will miss the Cheltenham Festival with a sore suspensory. More to follow.
 
My Nicols canyon for World Hurdle bets can also go in the bin.

What will Ricci do now, Douvan or Annie to the Champion Hurdle, absolute sickner for ante post bets, the bookies must have made a fortune on this news, thousands of bets down before NRNB came in, why does it never go in punters favour.....Wullie seems to think Faugheen will recover fine which is good to hear.
 
The knock on is huge.
Everyone focusses on the Champion Hurdle (and complete sympathy for Faugheen backers for that) but they're now talking about Annie Power going for that race when it hasn't ever been mentioned.
Alternatively, Vroum Vroum Mag could be supplemented or re-routed to the Mares if AP takes her chance in the champion.
Any other Mullins/Ricci horses that could see their targets change because of this ?
