2016 Champion Hurdle

Annie as low as 6/4 for champion ( best price 3s with Hills)

I think all bookies are NRNB for the Champion so they'll take no chance when pricing for that race, 6/4 seems almost laughable to me about a horse who until an hour ago was possibly being stepped up in trip and who hasn't run over the minimum distance for 2 years.
The market to follow is the Mares as this (I don't believe) is NRNB

Faugheen out. Like I said, we will either get an nr or faller, the bookies always win.

I hope everyone in here with those acca vouchers have NRNB

That of course will mean nothing if Annie goes for Champion Hurdle as all the acca bets with Annie in Mares and Fagheen will be down the drain also.

In a way this news makes it better news for us. I know Faugheen a good horse. More wide open market. More horses come into the frame now.

Something I acknowledged in an earlier post I made, see 2.09pm

No offence meant, I was just thinking it was not just champion hurdle bets but the accas with Annie in Mares that would bite the dust, the bookies already well ahead now and its not even started yet:grumpy:

They are all dogs and we know it. ;)

So where does everyone think RR's horses will end up now?
For me it has to be:
AP - Champion Hurdle, and
VVM - World Hurdle
I'd then take a risk and throw Limini in the Mares. They still have Karalee for the Mares Novice (although i'm not sure if she is fit and running at the Festival).
Eitherway, the Faugheen news has got everyone rummaging through their antepost bets to see what ones are still going! :sorrow:

Karalee is out

I'm tempted to go back in on the day 1 acca as I'm still in shock over the Faugheen news. Min, Douvan, Annie Power and Vroum Vroum Mag pays around 20/1..

I’d agree with this Rowebot, still looks a decent bet although Annie might go for the Mares which would see this one down the pan.

I put cover on mid January in case VVM went Mares and Annie WH, I never expected it to be in this position though. Fortunately I was covered by NRNB on Faugheen so now have:

Min 13/8, Douvan1/2 and VVM at 12/1, 8/1, 11/2

I'm still tempted to go back in though on your bet!

The knock on is huge.
Everyone focusses on the Champion Hurdle (and complete sympathy for Faugheen backers for that) but they're now talking about Annie Power going for that race when it hasn't ever been mentioned.
Alternatively, Vroum Vroum Mag could be supplemented or re-routed to the Mares if AP takes her chance in the champion.
Any other Mullins/Ricci horses that could see their targets change because of this ?

I think when the dust settles they might proceed with the initial targets. Douvan, Annie & Limini all still look banker material if running in their presumed No1 targets. Willie & Ruby still have the Champion Hurdle well covered.

This is comfortably the worst day of my punting life. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have an absolute fortune on him but had him in multiples with Min16/1, Douvan 4/1, Black Hercules 16/1, Thistlecrack 10/1 & 8/1 and Limini at 8/1. Add to this that he is my favourite horse in training and this is a dark, dark day.

It might take me 27 days to get over this!

I agree OV, I can't get my head round the idea of training a horse for a 2m 4f to 3m race then bring her back to 2m for the first time in 2 years because connections main hope for the race gets injured.
Pressure on Mullins now, can he convince Ricci not to have a runner in the Champion hurdle given the yard have plenty of other horses for the race ?

I sympathise with all Faugheen punters FM but you can count yourself extremely unlucky there given the prices you secured on the other hotpots....

This is just a learning curve and we all need to reconsider how to place WM's ap acca's next year. This will always be the case no matter what where the house always wins.

F_M - we are still relying on you on the first day. :encouragement:

If AP runs in this I'm struggling to think of any form that suggests she's good enough to win, there are certainly 2 or 3 left in that on their day will give her a lot to do. I would have thought she would still be better suited to the mares, or WH at a pinch, at current prices she looks more of a lay than backing proposition to me
