2014 Supreme Novices Hurdle

Think Vautour could be decent. That Western Boy is not a bad little horse. If you look back to his previous win over hurdles I think there were at least 3 next time out winners in behind.

Yeah. If Ruby is riding him he wont be 12/1 thats for sure.

Ruby has given a couple of absolute masterclasses in the Supreme. The Al Ferof ride was brillant in its own way but I actually think the CF one last year was even better.

Yep two quality quality rides. Whatever Ruby is on will have a chance....

One thing to note from the race mentioned above is that Mr Fiftyone was 12L back in third behind Vautour and TWB. In the Royal Bond Mr Fiftyone was only 13L off the Tullow Tank in 6th. Now I know that I am probably configuring the formlines to help myself and TTT has no doubt improved since then as his win at Christmas suggests, but this was only both Vautour and TWB's second run over hurdles and you'd think that they still have a bit of improvement in them.

Like to pay close attention to the market for this race. Faugheen has drifted from 16's to 25's in the last week (Paddy Power). Dont understand why personally. The one I think is hugely overpriced for the race is Amore Alato for Nick Williams currently available at 33's. Won the 2m Novice hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day and followed that up being 3rd in a 2m Handicap hurdle at Cheltenham over the weekend beaten 11 lengths by Lac Fontana giving it 8lbs in heavy ground. Wide open renewal this year.

Welcome Porge. Can't get a handle on Nick Williams horses tbh.

Willows Saviour going straight there
A quote on Skelton's website read: "Willow's Saviour will not be taking his chance in next Saturday's big handicap after pulling a muscle in training.

"It's nothing to worry about long term and he'll be back on the gallops in no time but going to a race like that, on ground that's highly likely to be very testing is simply not an option when you've got any chinks in your armour.

"His next race will be the Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle on March 11."

moyle Park, Vautor, Lieutenant Colonel , Wicklow Brave all entered at punchestown this sunday..Moyle Park still is an interesting one, was a high class bumper horse and he cost ricci 250 grand! im sure they would try and get him to Cheltenham if he runs a decent enough race here. might need better ground than what it'll be this weekend though.

Moyle Park was supposed to be the Supreme horse at the start of the season

Thanks for the welcome folks. I'm afraid I wouldn't be a Danny Mullins fan so I'll probably be dodging The Tank, unless someone in the know pops up at a preview night and say he's a steering job, but then again they said the same about Dunguib!! Just because Moyle Park cost a lot of money doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna be a 'Supreme' horse. He was badly beaten by The Tank last time out. I suppose Sunday's race will tell a lot.

The entries are revealed today for the four Grade One championship novice hurdles staged at The Festival, which runs from Tuesday, March 11, to Friday, March 14.

A total of 102 entries have been received for The Festival curtain raiser, the £120,000 Grade One Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle over an extended two miles on Champion Day, March 11.

Ireland's champion trainer Willie Mullins, successful last year with Champagne Fever, has an amazing 22 contenders engaged including Sky Bet's 8/1 favourite Vautour, who is unbeaten in two starts in Ireland, Moyle Park (20/1 with Sky Bet) and Valseur Lido (16/1).

The 44 Irish entries also feature dual Grade One winner The Tullow Tank (10/1, Philip Fenton), eye-catching Fairyhouse scorer Lieutenant Colonel (20/1, Dessie Hughes) and the progressive Western Boy (16/1, Pat Fahy)

Paul Nicholls' trio are headed by German import Irving (10/1), who extended his unbeaten record to three in a Grade Two contest at Ascot in December, while Nicky Henderson's nine entries include Royal Boy (20/1) and Josses Hill (14/1), first and second in the Grade One Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown on January 11.

Other notables include StanJames.com Greatwood Hurdle winner Dell' Arca (33/1, David Pipe), Ladbroke Hurdle victor Willow's Saviour (20/1, Dan Skelton) and Zamdy Man (25/1, Venetia Williams), who triumphed in the Grade Two Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle at Haydock Park on January 18.

Facts And Figures
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle was known as the Gloucestershire Hurdle until 1974. Capel Cure Sharp backed the contest in 2000 and the company, which became Gerrard Wealth Management, supported the race until 2003. Racecourse caterers Letheby & Christopher became the sixth sponsor since the initial backer Lloyds Bank in 1974 when putting their name to the event in 2004 and 2005, while Anglo Irish Bank was the sponsor from 2006 to 2008. Bookmaker William Hill first sponsored the race in 2009 and in 2010 the backers were the Stewart Family, on behalf of the charity Spinal Research. Wicklow Brave and Lieutenant Colonel

i have no idea what to make of this race now i really dont lol. Wicklow Brave looks really quick not the best jumper from what ive just seen... im on irving myself but couldnt resist the tullow tank at 7/1 to win any race with will hills... pretty decent odds to be fair

Both good bets. At least Irving is being aimed at the Supreme,

I might back the Mullins second or third string on the day. Bound to drift when Ruby picks his.
