Supreme Novice Hurdle 2019

Sorry if this has already been put up but just seen Annamix has an entry for the Royalbond.

Can't see him racing in this tbh, it doesn't fit in keeping with how Willie operates his top Supreme Novice Hurdle runner.

I suspect, as I am sure someone else put forward, that Annamix will start in either a maiden or a novice hurdle somewhere.

Definitely.

Just as a side note for Supreme runners who contest the Royal Bond, the past 5 races read as follows:

2017 - Mengli Khan 1st - Finished 3rd in the Supreme.

2016 - Labaik (refused to race) - 1st in the Supreme.

2015 - No Supreme representatives.

2014 - No Supreme representatives.

2013 - No Supreme representatives.

From it all it has actually produced better results for the Albert Bartlett than any other novice hurdle, and seemingly looks a good one for stayers, from them past 5 races.

Penhill & Very Wood both AB winners after contesting the Royal Bond, then Nichols Canyon, who won it in 2014 became a Stayers hurdle winner before his fatal injury.

Quick Grabim has a stayers' pedigree, so could potentially be one for the AB, though of course if he wins the Royal Bond the focus will be on the Supreme, as is always the case, when history may suggest otherwise.

I'm going to wait for the final entries of the Royal Bond before having a go at one or two in the AB market.

Great work COD.

Yeh I wouldn't be too focused on the Royal Bond. Bring on the Moscow Flyer, Deloitte and Tolworth

Tolworth got a shocking record for supreme and even more a race for future stayers.
Friend of mine texted me last year after summerville boy beat Kalshnikov that he fancied summerville for supreme, still 22s at the time.
I replied it had No Chance.
He had reverse forecast up in the supreme, had to stand next to him as they passed the line.:disgust:
Still think it's a race for stayers though.

Digging up old graves here, but isn't that result this year exactly why it is bananas to rule out a horse based on him winning a certain race?

Absolutely,
I had come round to the idea (of summerville boy having a chance) once the ground went heavy though, so was prepared to give him a high five.
I'm also as certain as I can be that on Good to Soft ground we wouldn't have had the same result.

The Tolworth stats are admittedly poor but regardless of record its the only grade 1 novice hurdle over 2m this side of the Irish Sea, so its obviously considered. I understand people view the Tolworth as a race more for stayers so perhaps not the best supreme stepping stone, but so many top stayers emerge from the supreme its hard to be put off by horses you view as future stayers.

Agree with this.

Only way I could part with my money for him is if he gets heavy ground.

I've added Seddon for this race at 33/1 with Bet365. Whilst I don't expect the race to be the strongest piece of form in time I was really taken by his win at Stratford earlier this month.

He's entered up in the Supreme Trial at Cheltenham this Sunday and if he does run as expected to be the case then he will have followed the same path as Summerville Boy in his first 2 hurdle starts which would suggest the Supreme is very much the plan at this stage of the season (owners have also come out and said 2 miles is certainly the thinking with him at the moment).

Thomas Darby I expect will go to Wetherby on Saturday instead of this race but Itchy Feet, also with Olly Murphy is likely to take him on. Should be a decent race but i'm hoping and expecting for a big run from Seddon this weekend.

Seddon as got bags of potential and although I shortlisted him for further at the beginning of the season, he looks like he could be a real player over 2 miles for now.

Done the same Jono , I mentioned it in the A/P thread last week , Went to Plumpton - at the races jumps season
preview meeting. Simon Holt , Luke Harvey and Dave Crosse (jockey).
They were pretty keen on this fellow. and a few others , .
They all said Samcro should go chasing f.w.i.w.

Tokey Dokay won again for the Skeltons under a penalty at Uttoxeter. You couldn’t get any less sexy than that but I’m still keeping an eye on him as he travels really well through his races and has a nice kick at the end.

I usually attend that meeting and it goes very much under the radar (as you would expect).

The group is normally go with said there were strong vibes about him bt I haven't got anything solid to quantify what that means

I know its early days but with commandeer of fleet looking in need of 2miles +, does anyone else think the quality of the horses for this race are thin on the ground........if the vibes are right about annamix he already looks to have a great chance in this already if his debut goes well.

It does look that way but plenty of last years good bumper horses have not run yet. With that being said, those that haven’t run from the Mullins battalion look more likely Ballymore and/or Albert Bartlett horses. There could be a good one in the Supreme trial tomorrow but the overall depth looks weak at this trip.

thats what I thought with most of Mullins....not sure any of them will stay at 2 miles.
I do like seddon so might add him in before tomorrow's race....
