Supreme Novice Hurdle 2019

Just seen Grech & Parkin tweet asking which bookmakers will give best price for Lust For Glory to win 2019 Supreme. Got to love the way these guys are so genuine Race people

See Rhinestone just battled out the finish with Envious Editor at Naas.
I know some like Rhinestone - not for me just yet BUT.
Looking at Envious editor form, the bumper he ran in was won by a Mullins horse called
Passageway,
and the form is stacking up
Anyone any idea where this horse is at ?
Can't find anything myself.

Aramon wins there and congratulations to connections.

The one to take out of the race was quick grabim ruby showed supreme confidence in him but he flattened a hurdle at a crucial stage where he completely lost his chance. He came home well with ruby well aware he'd lost his chance. Still the one to beat in the royal bond for me.

First thoughts on that race. seemed slowly run, ruby was patient again then made a mistake second last which in a sprint finish off a slow pace isn't ideal.
So wouldn't write of Quick Grabim just yet, or overly rate the winner.
Not sure about Felix, but wasn't really a fan anyway.

Agree 100%. He was so confident before that race ending jump

Mullins will surely know how Annamix fares in comparison to Aramon and Quick Grabim..

You'd have to write off Felix desjy completely I'd have thought for the supreme. He hacked up against very limited opponents and got found out here against better and more experianced rivals.

I struggle to believe Felix Desjy is as bad as he showed there. His bumper form alone makes him better than that and he was beaten far too early to suggest that was as good as he is.

Couldnt have any of them on my mind for Cheltenham though. Annamix backers happy. In fact I've just topped up at 11's.

Quick Grabim pushed out to 50/1 with 365.

Oooh that's tempting. He shouldn't shorten again before the royal bond though. One thing youd also learn here is he settled and switched off like a dream. They'd have no issue sending him up in trip should they feel the need to later in the season.

For what it's worth, the Aramon group thought they had a chance against Quick Grabim today because of the 7lb penalty. What impressed me was that the last time Aramon got beaten in a race that developed into a sprint. The same race today but he picked up nicely. I imagine both of Willie's go to the Royal Bond and you'd expect Ruby to stick with Quick Grabim.

I was very tempted by Aramon looking at the form line with Triplicate 10/1 was too big at the weights. Put off by Mullins saying he'd be surprised if he was good enough. :(

50-1 is an over reaction so I've cashed and bet again, hopefully he's not injured.
It looked a muddling pace and reminded me of one or two supreme trials last year that ended up as misleading form. Like when Sharjah won/fell.

Breeding suggests that Quick Grabim might be better at two and a half. Will wait to see what Willie says.

Felix for the Martin Pipe or too bad to be true

Agree Scoob, that hurdle cost him all chance and he stayed on well.

Yh I've cashed out my felix bet really disappointed didn't jump well carried his head weirdly to the right. The safety net with 365 in situations like this really is great.

Don't think that was a staying on, needs further type of performance to me.
Plenty of very good two milers out of that breeding, we'll see how he goes in Royal Bond

Willie Mullins said: “That's a huge improvement for him and he showed a lot more speed than we thought he had.

“You'd probably have to look at the Royal Bond now.

“He ran very green in Listowel and I asked Paul not to make as much use of him as he did there and see what he would do so we are pleasantly surprised at how he took to the change of tactics.

“Paul didn't think he had a turn of foot going out but he was too green in front in Listowel so I told him to get a lead the whole way.

“He lost his off fore shoe and he got a nice little cut as did Quick Grabim. It must have been a rougher race than we thought.

“They got two little cuts on the sides of their pasterns. I hope they are just typical racing injuries that will be alright in ten days time.”

Paul Townend added: "It was a surprise but Quick Grabim had to give us all a bit of weight which is hard for novices.

"It was a pleasant surprise and he is improving. He had improved again from Listowel and hopefully he can keep improving.

"It was (a case of playing his cards late). We weren't sure going out where the pace was going to come from and we just didn't want to be setting it up. It all worked out well for us.
