Ryanair Chase 2018

Sadly I dont think Valseur Lido did much to enchance his chance here

Cant see them risking WP on festival ground, surely they have an eye firmly on the King George now and will be working backwards.

No he diddnt. Hes a shell of his former self unfortunately. Might slip down the handicap quickly. To be fair they gave him his chance today, no excuses. Deffinately needs dropping in grade rather than throwing him into a national ie sir des champs.

sorry Tim, that reply was meant for FM

I have had a decent bet on WP (ante post terms) but would trust connections to make the best decision by the horse.

Whilst WP is obviously taking the headlines, I thought CC ran a really eye catching race and I have backed him at 20/1.

I can't really understand the disparity in odds between these two. CC set a hell of a pace all the way round, did all the donkey work, and in many ways, set the race up perfectly for WP. I was surprised how long he hung in there up the straight and he did exceptionally well to only be beaten a couple of lengths when WP had absolutely everything he could have asked for.

You'd have to expect he will come on for that, from a Cheltenham point of view, more than WP, and we also know he will handle good ground and the Festival. Obviously he comes with his own issues, notably his jumping, and at 12 years old, he will almost certainly be regressing, but 20/1 looks a great ew bet to me.

Any quotes after the race ccm?
. I'd certainly assume Ryanair however the owner Jean bishop more so than tizzard is really strong minded on the gold cup. He ran a cracker there and she might just go overboard.
20/1 would be too big regardless. Especially with the winner being an unlikely runner.
Cue card really took me by surprise there, i diddnt think he was taking up the bridle at all well this season. But he travelled well in paddy hands there. Hard to fathom.

I won't back him But I can certainly see the case.

Waiting patiently.

Jefferson said: "This to us could have been his Cheltenham because we don't know what ground we'd get and even if we get soft ground we might stop and think about it.

"We don't want to rush him and he might not be a horse that wants a lot of racing every year. We will probably confirm him for the Ryanair and then decide ten minutes before declarations.

"There are plenty of other races bar Cheltenham. Everyone else is obsessed by Cheltenham. We are not that fussed. We are not going to risk him for the sake of it. There is Aintree or Punchestown, other places we can go."

No didn't see any quotes TBH Scooby but split my stakes between the 20/1 and 16/1 NRNB just in case. Just don't think he's a GC horse myself.

Only quote I can find:

“I’m just so glad he’s done it, he’s a good boy,” said a rather emotional Colin Tizzard. “That was probably as good as ever - Waiting Patiently is an outstanding horse.”

Quite whether Cue Card has another go at the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup after two consecutive falls in the race remains to be seen.

There is the intriguing possibility of him attempting to regain the Ryanair. Given that his enthusiasm and pace seem intact, that might be the better target.

“There's two options, one we've got unfinished business with and one we've won before,” Tizzard said. “I suppose it depends which race looks easier. It’ll be up to Jean (Bishop, owner)."

"I would say to anybody who is thinking of backing him for the Ryanair, just hold your bets at the moment. Unless it's soft we will not go."

Anyone who criticises connections for wanting the best for their horse needs to take a good long look at themselves.

This game is all about opinions. If you have a potential superstar and you're worried whether the ground is G/S or S thats an excuse in my opinion. I can't think of 1 Irish trainer who would pull his horse out on that score. Thats why they'll carry most of the prizes away. As they say, great horses can win on any ground.

From last year

He confirmed the going remained 'Good, Good To Soft in places' and said limited watering would enable this to remain the case for Thursday.

Clerk of the Course Simon Claisse “The forecast is for it to be dry and for temperatures to get up to 10C today,” he said.**

“The dry outlook will last throughout today into Friday, so we will selectively water to maintain current conditions.**

“The quicker parts of the course are the turn away from the home straight, most of the back straight and all the way back to the home straight. We might do a little bit of the home straight if necessary as well.**

My book took a hit for this yesterday having top notch and Coney Island. Not sure how to read the race now, will probably oppose un de sceaux. If soft ground I would fancy waiting patiently, on good ground possibly fox norton and/or min/douvan if coming here

I took a hit also. Was happy enough with top notches run. Coney island disappointing but full cash out with 365 on that one. And thats what its there for.

Those quotes are absolutely understandable. I don't see him running now on Good to Soft.... as I said before, I didn't see why they'd be waiting UNLESS they said this King George was the target...which it is.

A soft ground race between Waiting Paitently and Un De Sceaux would be fantastic but I don't think we'll ever get to see it!

Now only 7/1 for the King George.... well done to anyone who took 12s early on yesterday!

I have a bit on waiting patiently any race from earlier in the season, but don’t think the ground will allow him to run. Also have a few doubles Altior/min ryanair and Douvan/min ryanair Altior/Douvan ryanair, so will take a view the day before on how it’s looking

Id like douvan to go here now. What ever the comments. We won't know until declarations.

Impossible to call, but Douvan to come here slight favourite for me. Straight to champion chase against Altior such an ask

I'd love Douvan or Yorkhill to come here...and I imagine both would be odds against with the prep for Douvan keeping his price decent and the awful form for Yorkhill keeping his decent.... and I'd happily take that gamble.

I do like UDS but only had a little bit at 7.4 and feel he's too short now (alkthough him getting PUSHED OUT) yesterday when Only Cue Card enhanced their claims is odd.

Douvan or min. Will do. As iv cashed min out for the qmcc. But i personally think douvan would be the more likely IF either go for the race.

Would be no shock for any scenario.

Maybe pushed out due to speredek pulled up and a sound beating.
Regardless of what I think about uds on decent ground,
Yesterday's race was far harder than any race uds has ran in.
Who with all respect has been placed brilliantly by connections all through his career.
