Ryanair Chase 2018

I remember what happened to Pandorama when Meade said he can only run on soft ground. The owners over ruled him and he ran in the Gold Cup - it ruined the horse.

Because of previous issues they need to look after the horse. If it was soft ground he'd be the one to beat.

I don't think my bet on WP is nrnb:sorrow:

My point is, a "championship" Grade 1 at Cheltenham is the pinnacle. Coneygree had issues, do you think they regret winning the Gold CUp with him? I don't.

If he skips Cheltenham and comes back next year, my point is, what is he coming back for?/What are they minding him FOR in the future? He'll surely skip the festivals all his life.... or they'll just miss their chance.

I dont know the answer to that kev. Its a tough one when you own a horse who they're obviously very fond of, is a yard favourite and you also have aspirations and reasoning to win .

I believe I know what they'll do. But whatever they decide will be the right thing for them and they don't need to decide yet.

They are looking after the horses wellbeing Kev. Surely that is far more important than risking him on ground that they know he doesn't want.

Top Notch and Coney Island very disappointing.

WP a class act as we all probably knew, unfortunately I feel I will need to utilise my cash out option on this one though!

I am not saying run him on genuine good ground, but in the nicest way possible...he is a racehorse. If its good to soft or worse I think he should run.

By the sounds of it I'll just be grateful I am on NRNB

I'd be very disappointed if they bottled out of running WP in the Ryanair. If he's a good horse, which he's proved, put it in the proper race and lets see if he's a great horse. Too many trainers bottle out of the big races blaming ground.

This isn't a case of bottling it Doc. He wouldn't have ran today if they were scared of the competition.

I've backed the horse, but will be happy to just get my money back. Rather than a run for my money, when the horse won't like, or cope with the ground.

Im afraid I can't have that excuse. If he'd have got beat today no one would have said anything against the horse. The Irish trainers run horses on a bog most of the season but when Cheltenham comes around do they duck out of the fight? not a chance.

Cheltenham water daily , would amaze me if he didnt turn up.

Now the question is can he win it?

Personally cant see him losing , UDS will lead him over last and he will sit and sit then pounce. This horse is something else and till beaten he carries my money.

I'v never known that to be the case.

Ofcourse he could win it. Would have a very, very good chance if it came up on the soft side. Was ran a very true race at championship pace. No hiding places there.

I actually thought top notch ran well. If he gets to double figures I'll back him again ew. The engine was there the jumping let him down under pressure. Something I'd be willing to take a chance on with him at a bigger price.
Hopefully he can learn from that today.

Coney Island never travelled or jumped so will have to wait for commentary from connections, similar with Top Notch, he did travel but never looked entirely comfortable, lots of horses just can't act in that ground, and that sometimes flatters those that can, I wouldn't be ripping up any ante post slips just yet

Coney island wasn't used to jumping at that pace what so ever. I thought he was worth a chance and basically could have ran the race waiting patiently ran, but He just couldn't go the gallop. Id be suprised if anything came to light. No excuses i dont think.

Very impressive today from Waiting Patiently, a fitting tribute to Malcom. He travelled like a dream passing the whole field on the bridle bar the effervescent Cue Card and only really had to be shaken up to win. Think today was the time for an investment, conditions we're ideal. I'll be waiting patiently till Thursday morning before getting involved in this race.

I backed WP today (albeit a relatively small bet) but I was cheering Cue Card over the last. I know we all care about our bets but sometimes the sport wins out - so good to see.
