Supreme Novices 2018

Anyway , probably like a few others . I'm Liking today's run by M.K . On at 20-1 and 16-1 , singles and in a few multi's.

At a loss with this race at present.

Just can't have MK, but the other side of the coin is I haven't seen another horse I can have....yet!

What puts you off MK Innoko?

There was just something about yesterday's win that didn't scream Supreme Winner.

So just a hunch.....but I'm normally wrong with them :highly_amused:

Personally I'm quite happy/surprised to see PP are shortest (12/1) about Sayar. Taking it as a positive about him and as 20/1 is available elsewhere I might consider him for a speculative multiple at this stage ...

Hating my book for this race. Got so many covered but always another one popping up which I haven't. Claimantakinforgan would save it for me and be my biggest winner so hoping for a decent show when he's next out. Ravenhill Road seems to have been forgotten also - has done everything so far with maximum ease, get the impression he needs to step up plenty (and like so many could go up in trip) but the potential is there

Ravenhill Road will need further than 2 miles to be shown to best effect imo.

I have him covered for the Supreme and Bartlett, so watch him romp home in the Neptune now. All comments from Ellison have mentioned 3 miles, be interesting to see where he goes next, be out before/over xmas i'd assume, possibly at 2m 4

I like KALASHNIKOV at fancy prices - looks a real improver and one to watch

I feel the pain Robante.

I've told myself to leave it alone for now though. I'm hoping not many more come out before January, because I won't be backing anything that hasn't had a run before the new year in this.

I have plenty covered, Annamix was my big loss as I made no secret about, that said, I am in a comfortable position with Mengli Khan and Real Steel should he be contender, of the others I have profit scattered around but nothing that excites me. I'd need to see something special somewhere to get me off my main 2 now.

My main losses would be Sharjah, Antey, Early Doors, Le Richebourg & Claimantakinforgan, of the ones nearest the head of the market, everything else is looking OK/Good, all things considered.

I honestly have this feeling that Real Steel will be the main one for WPM, he has had significant support from Jared Sullivan recently and what better way to repay him than a big run in the opening race of the festival. Being the massive sceptic that I am it wouldn't surprise me if they use the Ricci runners, like Senewalk, Annamix this season as a smoke screen to keep prices at a nice level for other owners that WPM trains for, but this is my non-trusting side coming through, I'm sure they have no such intentions ;)

Reaches the point though where you’ve backed so many you can’t feel like you can then not get the winner. I had to go in on Mengli Khan at 7s as he’s a worthy favourite really on what we’ve seen so far. Damage limitation this race for me really, but as it’s been the same the last couple of years I’m going to learn for next year and not back anything for this race until after xmas

Haha I said the same this year too, it got to me, but have to keep your head up and not get too down about it as many said to me on here. It's incredibly frustrating, but this is only one race, and as much as we all love to start off the festival with profit, chasing a race isn't a good idea, there are plenty more solid options throughout the festival that I am now focusing on. Just have to hope the racing gods are on my side and they all make it now.

Yes i won't be adding any more now until a week or two before the festival when the form is a little clearer and we start to see who will turn up. I'm not yet at the point where i can't yield a profit in this race, think i have two against the field that would do so for me (Claimantakinforgan and Pym). Happy where i stand in most of the other races so it's swings and roundabouts

Does anyone know what is happening with Dortmund Park.
Took some 40's available earlier in the season, but now priced up for the Bumper...

I intend to leave this alone until NRNB - although remind me of this in a few weeks - when I've gone all in on the next "best thing"

I have small amounts remaining on:
Sayar, Epicuris, Dortmund Park & Claimantakinforgan.

Plus "Any Race" novices:
Red Jack, Samcro, Pym, Slate House, Ravenhill Road, If The Cap Fits, White Moon and On The Blind Side
(Most of which will go up in trip)
Mostly done with Free Bets, so one winner - should easily cover me.

Another reason not to go in again just yet!

The more I look at this race the more I think we haven't seen the winner jump a hurdle yet! Those will need to get their skates on and get a run soon though

Anybody heard much about Jonjo's Lad Of Luck??? Was impressed with this one in it's bumper (form hasn't worked out spectacularly) but was an eyecatching run all the same. I have backed at 50/1 to a small stake but would like to see a declaration soon

watched the Monday view on ATR and Jamie Lynch really impressed with MK , impressed me also yesterday with his jumping and cruising speed and for that reason i am trying to recoup my Annamix dough on him.Gordon Elliott view that MK will improve for better ground as well another reason ive steamed in.

I've been waiting on him too but not seen any entry yet and no amount of Google searches have brought up any news either. It's getting late now for a novice to make their debut but he was on my shortlist from last season as it's rare one of Jonjos bumper horses wins first time out but he was backed to do so.

This is going to be such a flippant comment, but I couldn't back a jonjo hurdler with free bets. The man is the most over-rated trainer in racing. I'd struggle to get excited about any horse he trained.

That bumper win was quite stylish though....

Yeah Jonjo is usually one for the handicaps and I'd want to see him run before I would be remotely interested. I have a similar view with David Pipe as they both seem better suited to plotting up handicappers.
