Royal Ascot Day 1

I wasn't convinced FoG has a change of pace to be best suited by coming off a bend like the SJP. But I could be chatting shite here.

I will eventually look into this a bit more. Which is why the bet was a 'might'.

Anyone wants to correct me before I bother though it'd really help...
What i would say is iv backed Henri mattisse a few times and he can take a good while to get going. Longer than field of gold.

Played Carl spackler each way in the queen Anne at 20s. 125 RPR LTO which is the best achieved in the whole field over the course of their whole careers. Just full on disrespectful price

Dawn Rising has managed to get himself down to a mark of 100 which qualifies him for the Ascot Stakes (0-100) after 2 hopeless runs.
Has a very good record at this meeting winning the Queen Alexandra in 2023 off 102 then finishing 3rd last year off 105.
This has surely been the plan for him this year.

Sardinian Warrior @ 7/1 e/w Queen Anne

Looks a fair e/w chance, has won at Ascot and Soumi is in good form at the moment.

Day 1 selections just interest stakes

2.30 Lake Forest 11/1 ew 4 places
3.05 American Gulf 9/1 ew 4 places
3.40 Rumstar 20/1 ew 4 places
4.20 Henri Matisse 4/1
5.00 Dawn Rising 25/1 ew 6 places
5.35 Sons and Lovers 11/2
6.10 French Master 11/4

Me deciding not to bother backing American affair is probably the main reason he won

Decided to stick to my not betting in sprints strategy

Well done cracking winner

Field of gold romped in and with docklands winning the queen anne the division looks at his mercy

Aye, there's a lack of stars in all/any divisions on the flat at the moment imo. As shown by the sprint and the mile today. Even the stayers have lost Kyprios.

Field of Gold could well change that.

Always happy with a 33/1 winner on day one from three bets.

Tomorrow looks bits of a struggle. Fallen Angel and Ombudsman my plays so far.
Nice one Benjy .. (y). American Affair , and Ombudsman too . , and Fallen Angel too !! .. good selections .:ninja:.

Working my way through tomorrows card trying to find some bigger priced selections

So far i have picked

Queen Anne
Damysus and Zeus Olympios (willing to give both 1 more chance at the prices) These were 2 horses i wanted to follow for the season. They were too close to the pace in the lockinge. Promise il give up on them after this.

Coventry
Great barrier reef (bad price antepost with moore choosing confucius, i highlighted confucius breeding in the other thread so itll be a kick in the nads if he wins)

King charles
American affair and Asfoora. Last 2 winners of the race. Be a lottery given how big the field is but both good prices.

2m4f handicap
Beylerbi
Won the CES last season and only raced over 2m+ twice. Will be running on late. Only e/w bet so he will probably finish 1 spot outside the places.

Wolferton
Ghostwriter, drops in grade here having run mainly in group 1s and 2s for clive cox. Has switched yards, if they get the best out of him hes got a class edge.

Nahraan, the potential improver. If something is going to win this easily itll surely be this lad. Finished a close third to 4 time japanese group 1 winner croix du nord and arc winner daryz last time out. I suspect the market will reveal how fit he is on seasonal reappearance.

I've had a few hours yesterday & today and ended up on the following.

Opera Ballo 4pts 9-2 pp
Siouxperb 1ptew16-1 lad
Mission Central 2pt 12-1 lad
-
Galileo Dame 2pt 20-1 Bex & 1ptew 14-1 B365
Nahraan 2pt 10-1 pp
Ascending 2pt 15-1 Bex

Be fucking chuffed with one of those going in.
Looks proper competitive racing.
If I have a winner in the first three and Bow Echo anywhere near evens then I'll have a good bet on that I reckon.

Id say its very likely bow echo will be carrying the bet365 superboost curse on his back

If its 6/4 or bigger itll be hard not to get stuck in. But the superboost curse is powerful voodoo.

(y)Fortunately they only allow me a small stake on boosts these days.

Opera Ballo
Great Barrier Reef
Night Raider
Reach High
Dividend

Probably the ideal results...

I'll regret saying this when I don't back a winner but, it looks a very good days racing.

It looks like a day where having 1 winner and breaking even will be better than 90% of people do

Zeus/docklands
Great barrier reef/God given talent (e/w)
Mission central/behike (e/w)
Puerto Rico
Will probably have had enough and given up before the 5th race !

My 4 for Tuesday

Cut A Dash 3.05
Night Raider 3.40
Galileo Dame 5.0
Haatem 5.35

A hard card for selecting winners but I love big fields so should be a good watch.
