2026 Champion Hurdle

I know you love her more than me, but how do you feel about potential cheekpieces they’re talking about for her? Not sure I buy into it she’s hard as nails anyway.
It'll sharpen her up even more and she'll win a little easier than without them.

Whatever your bets, and whatever your opinions, when it comes to Lossiemouth you do have to wonder about her last performance imo
That’s what would worry me if I was a proper backer.
Said before I think she’s tailor made for a CH being a horse that stays further and has good form at the track, but that last run?

As I biased backer, I wasn’t overly blown away. We have seen her throw in an odd one before and come back from it, hoping to see the same again, at a place she loves. Also for as bad as she looked throughout, she kept at it well when many others would’ve fallen out the back of the telly. I think they should try and make all with her (probably hasn’t the pace to do it) but would be much closer at the business end to try and wind it up, and not rely on turn of foot, as others will beat her in a sprint.

She’s about as consistent a mare as I’ve ever known . She will post a low 160 RPR. Her 3 best rprs have all been over 2 miles and have been her three most recent runs and it’s not unreasonable to think that with the stable on fire right now and her love for the course and track that we can reasonably expect a few pounds of improvement . That puts her in 162/163 territory and that will be enough to take it away from golden Ace as she has never posted within 7 pounds of that. Are any of the geldings then capable of a high 160 . Personally I doubt it. The only danger then is a top form BDA .

Get in there. Love to see her win.

Well yes I can see all that, Im just not convinced based on her last run.
Not long to wait to find out.

Lossie has chelt form, spring horse and whilst I have New Lion in book at 16s, I think it’s between Lossie and BDA. I don’t yet buy into theory that BDA hates the track, whilst last run was awful, I blame Kennedy for its first outing. But will see

Just clearly wasn't her running Carnage. She looked beat from the start.
Must have turned a corner and worked the house down in her last piece of work and she can now smell Cheltenham. She just turns into a completely different beast there. Owns the place. She'll win.

I've just been thinking about this... the two times she's run below her best was...

1) at Kempton, against Con Hill
2) at Leop, against Brighterdaysahead, in pretty bad ground conditions

On both occasions, she travelled pretty poorly - looked uncomfortable, hung, outpaced
On both occasions, the conditions and track suited the other horse

Despite this, she was only beaten 2 lengths and 3 lengths. Given how 'poorly' she travelled/ran, she still finished close to winner. And we're not talking about finishing close to Nemean Lion, The Yellow Clay, Anzadam, Rubaud, Storm Heart. We're talking about Con Hill and Brighterdaysahead here, where she wasnt on top form and still finished close

Are the reasons to below she can perform on Tuesday, if she turns up.

I'd say yeah. She loves cheltenham, and I appreciate all her wins have been on the new course, but I do think the undulations will help Lossie here, as well as there not being a real Grade 1 horse setting the pace from the front here. I see this race suiter her more then the likes of The New Lion and Brighterdaysahead. Danger will be Golder Ace, but I have Lossie 2-3lbs better than her

I've been going back and forth on this race.

But, I'm done. Selection made. Lossie wins

After ducking and diving for so many festivals, Ricci now could, perhaps, maybe, complete the Champion Hurdle/Gold Cup double with Lossie and GW. About bloody time.
If he didn't go for the Gold Cup with Gaelic Warrior this year he should give up owning horses imo! (Could arguably have said the same re: Lossiemouth and the Champion Hurdle last year!)

Id be interested in a match bet of Poniros to beat Anzadam. Assuming Townend is on Lossie, Patrick on Anzadam. Who are we thinking gets the leg up on Poniros. Id love it to be Cobden again

Edit - Completely forgot about Tutti Quanti. So who is onboard Pomiros??

Seen on twitter someone mentioned the cheekpieces thing.

Majborough - bolted up, career best.

Kaid D’authie - career best last time at DRF.

State Man - clear when fell at the last in the champion, won easily at Punchestown.

From the above it does seem to have the desired effect.
