They are keeping their options open - only the 5 handicap chase entriesDoes anyone know if this is The Enabler's intended target? One I've been keen on for this all year. No mention in the stable tours, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Craigy there is plenty more to come from the king and I listened to Paul kealy other day there and he thinks the sameSome bit of confidence WCD!
I’m assuming Lucinda et al believe he’s a lot better than his rating? Even being lumped with a 10lbs rise.
Ya i like him.…..Bossofthebrownies has some decent form, just touched off by Koktail Divin in Florida Pearl and finished 13L ahead of The Enabler at Naas off level weights.
20-1 for this but has a BANC entry. Morris only tends to send one over if he thinks they have a chance.
Sure I saw I stable tour on YouTube where he said the NH chase was the current priority, though not set in stone.Ya i like him.
Problem is with these irish novice staying chasers, financially they are potentially better off finishing 3rd in irish national, than winning the NHC.
Irish national is 2 weeks earlier this year.
Winning an irish national for morris would be huge.
Gordon is after the irish trainers title, so horses like Kurasso Blue and Yhe Enabler might go irish national fresh, even if its just to pick up place money.
We have NRNB, but I don't want to tie money down on horses that I can't see why they would run in this or have this as a target.
Another thing that is in my head for this race, is about horses rated 140+. The first 3 home last year were rated 135, 132 and 132.
If a horse is 140-145 rated they could be as well off running in the Ultima off a nice weight and carry at a minimum 8lbs less. Top weight would be rated 153 or above generally in an ultima?
granted he looks a stayer, and was impressive the last day. However, the race wasn’t exactly a strong one and they crawled around, 10lb seems very excessive to me.Craigy there is plenty more to come from the king and I listened to Paul kealy other day there and he thinks the same
I’m not a Wade Out fan either despite the obvious positive of Sean Bowen riding. He does not look in love with racing and I fear that he will one day down tools altogether despite SB on board.I’m really struggling with this race, can’t make a strong case for any of the potential Irish challengers, they’re either not gonna get in or not good enough.
My form reading skills don’t stretch as well in the UK. Can anyone more familiar with the lines make a strong case for anything beyond Newton Tornado who I fancy but can’t bring myself to back at the current prices. Will he be much shorter than that on the day?
Edit: I’m not a Wade Out fan at all.
Rumour is Sean turned the ride down....Rumour is paul townsend is on Newton Torando
He's stable jockey for Olly Murphy that's all there is to it, and I doubt the PT stuff is true as he doesn't ride in handicap chases to avoid risking injuryRumour is Sean turned the ride down....
It seems like it’s the n h chase and I think he’s a certainty as long as the handicapper hasn’t put him up too much for last win but Lucinda thinks he has more improvement to come , if that’s the case 14/1 is massive , he will go off half those odds….King of Answers;
He won really nicely at Kelso four weeks before Cheltenham and we are very happy with him. He has the choice of entries between the Ultima and the National Hunt Chase. Obviously, the National Hunt Chase is over further but he will stay, and he reminds me a lot of a horse we had the won the Scottish National, Mighty Thunder. He is a lovely novice chaser, and he has been getting his act together and improved at Kelso. I said to his owners at the start of the season that he could be one for the Ultima but I’m still wondering if he would be better in the longer chase as he has a lot of stamina. We are not definite as to which race he runs in yet. (Lucinda Russell & Michael Scudamore)
