2026 Novice Hurdlers

I was very impressed with his jumping (excepting 2 out) and he looks the part.

Going quicker he is so much better, slow pace he looked more novicey, IMO.

Supreme will obviously be run at a better pace than that today, so should suit more.

He looks good.
But the form vs the current price is mental.
We'll see if he's the New Lion or Royal Infantry.
When they test him in a real race.
Even then - meeting the Irish grade one horses in March is going to be a step up still.

I reckon they might not even go for the grade 1's Tolworth or Formby and come back to Haydock for a wanky grade 2 (Rossington) in January.
Hopefully they do.

Agree with this. In his 2 hurdle races so far over the last 3 hurdles, his jumping has looked really good when he's been asked to go faster.

5s is an awful price now though imo.

He’s electric to watch anyway. Still only a 4 year old so taking it slowly with him makes sense in the long run.

No Drama This End declared for Friday over the mid trip. Not sure if this is good or bad for a Challow spot. Maybe he is swerving it. I hope he does. Get to the turners unbeaten and not knowing how good he is if he is headed to the festival. Harry Lowes out tomorrow. Let Sober Glory and Starzand battle it out for the rest of the Brits if Hobbs runs them against each other to see which is the Bartlett horse.

Well that's how I want it to play out anyway

sounds like grade 1 formby hurdle @ aintree on boxing day next on agenda for him
Upon Tweed might be going there, while the N Richards horse still looks very novicey in comparison to Skeltons, it'd be interesting if they still went to Aintree, a show of belief in their horse and all that.

We’re really happy with that. They went a decent pace for a three-runner race, they settled it down round the stables bend and he’s had a nice experience,” said Dan Skelton.

“He was very quick and nimble two out and he was authoritative. With the good novices you know they’ve got the ability, that is there, it’s the jumping that is important for experience and it could be one of the most important races he ever runs in.

“I’m glad we’ve done it, it would have been easy not to have run so we’ve definitely done the right thing.

“He pulled him to the outside, we had not much to gain and everything to lose, so he was keen to give him a clear sight. The early hurdles were more complicated. He attacked the last and Harry knew he could attack the last (because he had plenty left to give).

“We’ll see how good he is over the rest of the year and he’ll go to the Formby now at Aintree over Christmas. I’d rather he came here than gallop him at home and save his racing for the track.

“His mare Debdebdeb was very good. Her first foal was rated 100 on the Flat (Dillian), he’s her second and her third is Tralee Girl, who was second in a Listed race the other day.

“Dermot (Hanafin, owner) has already won the Supreme with Cinders And Ashes and I’ve been regaled about that a few times, it’s no surprise we were always going that route.

“I’ve a suspicion he’ll get further but I have to say he’s a faster horse this year than he ever was last year. At the start of the year I thought he might want two and a half miles, but now I’m very confident he wants two.”

Stick Captain Hugo in with the best of the Brits as well. I believe the Formby was mentioned for him ? He, Sober Glory and Starzand could fill the 3 Novice Hurdle spots for Hobbs imo. Great team to have.

Before the forum gets too excited about novices from the UK running in the supreme.
Out of 11 runners last year we had one.
Tutti Fucking Fruity.

I think we had 3 runners in the turners out of 11.
Won it though 👊

Hopefully the early signs this season don't completely fizzle and go to pieces like it has in the past.
It'll thin out though for sure.

Age of Innocence popular for the Supreme today. As low as 16's, still 25/1 with Denise.

Hopefully we'll end up with at least two this season :ROFLMAO:

Want Mydaddypaddy to remain unbeaten as the owner and trainer are not afraid to have a crack at the Irish, also IF Act Of Innocence is Nicky's best he'll probably go too.

Not convinced the Hobbs lot will turn up, even if good enough! Could be wrong, of course.

Only other one I like from the UK is Cristal D'estruval for Harry Derham, but he could clash with either of the above prior to the festival.

I would love them all to avoid each other, Mydaddypaddy, the Hobbs battalion, No Drama and hopefully Windbeneathmywings. It would be nice if they all turned up for once all unknowns and chucking their respective markets into a mini chaos.

That bugger tomorrow looked exactly like The New Lion did last year last time out, Harry Lowes. Couldn't be with a better trainer at the moment so let's see what he has got tomorrow in relation to the turners

Just watched the Mydaddypaddy race after freezing my spuds off all day at work. He is definitely the rightful favourite at this stage. He was sketchy and hesitant at some hurdles but i agree with the comments, it was purely a speed issue. At no point did he ever look in danger of tipping up or anything. He has got a giant stride on him when Harry gives him a bit of slack and he was still only pushed out. There could be a lot more in that tank yet. He looks to have the lot. Good experience for him today. A very lively player.

Seems to be the YouTube podcast talking horse the last few days. Also Andy holding said he’s posted the best time figure of the uk nov hurdlers a few days back on an odd checker show….said it was comfortably better than mydaddypaddy too! (Prior to todays run)

Visuallly impressed with Paddy.
No idea where he will stand come March in relation to other contenders of course, but wish I had him at nice prices.
Initial thoughts watching…….whatever he does this season they won’t waste much time getting him over fences.
