March ‘25 Yankee

I don't get involved this early but these stand out to me:

Kitzbuhel at 20s and 33s BANC

Majborough 10s Ryanair

Jasmin 16s Stayers

I think we'll go back to larger fields in a lot of the grade 1s after this years surprises so are we really getting value this far out when you consider the risks a year out?

Impaire for the Ryanair at 33’s seems generous.

Could Kargese go Arkle - don’t recall WPM sending a mare there before though?

Can someone please explain the love for Lulamba in the Arkle? This year's triumph field was probably the worst in many years and he got beat by a horse having his first spin over hurdles.

Given the 5 year old record in the Arkle and no weight allowance, I'd much rather kopek for 2 pts at 5/1 than 1 Pt on lulamba at 12/1

….i suppose we’ll know more about the quality of that field next year but you’re right to remind about 5yo stat.

….Unibet cut Kitzbuhel (BANC) to 20-1.

Have to say without all the errors the 5yo stat would've been shown up by Majborough, if Gino had ran it would've also been shown up, just my opinion of course.

Why do you think it was the worst in years? Wasn't all the talk beforehand that EID had put up figures that would win most Triumphs over the last 10 years. The right horses in 2nd and 3rd, with the Townend pick in 4th. Just beat by an unraced one none of us knew anything about with regards to hurdling.

They won't be as good as last year's juveniles, but I'd put them up there with Lossiemouths year, better than Vaubans year and better than Quilixios year as well.

They'll be took away by the guys in the white coats:devilish:

I personally just don't think they're that good, figures might show them being good but in my opinion I was never blown away by EID throughout the season.

I'd probably put them in the same tier as the qulixios year personally but I can't see them doing much in open company bar the winner and the mare in 5th who I think will do a let's dance next year

I don't agree with it. Andy Holding said it and it all of a sudden it became fact on the preview circuit. People were saying it on here so the fact he came 3rd should then mean those same people think it was a good Triumph. As I say, at the moment I think Lulamba will come out and be grade 1 class in open chases, EID could become Stayers Hurdle class as it isn't a huge jump, no idea on what the winner will do though.

The one I'd discount for next season right away is EID, has zero scope & really don't see him doing much as a 5yo, might even see him back on the flat, of the others there's plenty that'll improve for a summer at grass, I'd be very surprised if plenty of good winners don't come out of the race, even with the dreaded 5yo season ahead of them, I don't think there's a champion hurdle horse in there though.

I guess we'll see over the next 2 years. I think EID could be Stayers class by then, Lulamba will be in open chases and we'll see what the winner has done. Lossiemouths year was poor instead of her, Vaubans year has done nothing, at least Quilixios has been competitive in grade 1 chases but the rest rubbish. Most years for the Triumph end up looking poor when seeing what most of them do over the next 2/3 years.

I think he'll improve for a trip. Most years it's not fair to judge them on the 5yo season but see how they fair at 6yo. The Stayers is a poor group so not inconceivable he can find 10 pounds to get to that level in 2 years time. I don't think he'll do much as a 5yo as they'll probably run him in handicaps and 2m4 hurdles but let's see if they go for the 3m races.

Very true, the 5yo season is almost a wasted season for many, just he lacks size & scope for me to see where the improvement comes from, you've a good point that going up in trip could be the answer I wasn't considering for his future prospects.

Sidenote but of all the juveniles, Mambonumberfive is the one I really want to keep onside for next season, could really come into his own for a fence and Pauling does seem to be doing well with his chasers this season, maybe his methods at home with them works or could just be good race placement on his part.

….Pauling was very keen on a few of his last week.

I think i'd take a look at Marine Nationale for the CC, won it well this year and will surely look to defend his crown.

I;d possibly also throw in William Munny (Arkle) and FTF (Gold Cup)

I think State Man at 16/1 is massive. He was about to record his best performance when falling at the last. He’s the only one of the big 3 you can be confident was running to a high figure that day.

BDA ran another poor race at Cheltenham.

Constitution Hill is a shrug of the shoulders. Who knows.

Lossie’s been considered not good enough this year. A clear run may change that, but it may not.

I can’t understand why Constitution Hill is 1/4 the price of State Man. I think it’s a real rick.

The New Lion could be a real contender. But he’d have to prove it too. He’s probably beaten two staying chasers there in an event we know favours speed.

If I were picking four right now, I’d go with:

- State Man - Champion Hurdle @ 16/1
- William Munny - Arkle @ 16/1
- Teahupoo - Stayers @ 5/1
- Kitzbuhel - BANC @ 20/1

I think PP offer all of the above prices.

Any remaining love for Salvator? WPM sends most of his novice hurdlers over fences and he’d likely have just one target if good enough (Arkle). Willie often says fences can help settle the keen ones - let him bowl along in front, should have the engine to see out 2m. 50/1.

Watched Willie interviewed by Chapman at the end of Friday and I got the distinct impression Kopek was by no means certain to stay over the minimum trip. 33/1 BANC is a big price for something that could quite feasibly happen.

Impaire Et Passe seems to be a bit of a forgotten horse. One iffy run at the DRF and he is priced at 33/1 for his favourite trip (Ryanair). A much more experienced and reliable horse than something like Maj at 3-4 times the price. One good run at Aintree and that price will be slashed.
