2017 National Hunt Chase

Saw Tony Keenan flag that up on twitter today BOF. Certainly wouldn't surprise me that JP is trying to get him back onboard after last years success.

He stayed on well over 3m1 over Christmas on soft ground and has showed a decent level of form this season. Not too impressed with his jumping but I was FAR from convinced about Minella Rocco last year and got him up to win.

Best price 20's...

I've just gone in on Edwulf at 20's

It's worth noting that Sunday's race at Navan last year had:

1 - Measureofmydreams
2 - Noble Endeavour
3 - Pleasant Company
4 - Sub Lieutenant
PU - Shantou Flyer
F - Black Hercules

The top 3 plus Shantou Flyer all went onto run in the 4 miler, and Black Hercules at the time was the current fav for the race

In 2015 Very Wood beat Thunder and Roses, with both Gigginstown horses going onto run in the 4 miler with Very Wood being fav. 2014 Foxrock won and was also fav for the 4 miler come March.

Whatever the result, this is a strong trial with this race in mind.

Of the 9 runners only

Edwulf
Haymount
Jetstream Jack

Have entries in the 4 miler and all have connections that could easily have the bigger jockeys onboard come March

Someone highlighted Edwulf a while back. Well done whoever that was.

Really good spot.

Haymount likely to be Patrick Mullins?

Yeah you'd imagine Haymount looks to be Willie Mullins most likely runner, especially running in Sundays race so Patrick is sure to ride him.

On Hendersons latest blog like qzy said Premier Bond a likely runner. May be a year too early for Beware the Bear

I’ve got two or three in this race and we’re not decided on Bear yet. His owners are away at the moment and we’ll discuss if when they get back but that sort of race may just come a year too soon for him, but PREMIER BOND will quite likely run and is the most probable at this stage. Jockey-wise, it’s too early to say at this stage.

Mullins stated on ATR that he would love to ride Haymount in the 4 miler, hence my interest.

Haymount backers may not feel quite the same way about him!

I'm not sure where the signs that Haymount is a 4 miler come from? Best form is 2 and a half... not too far behind Bellshill and his only chase win. Got slammed stepped up in trip last time. Wouldn't fancy him at all personally. (Obviously see how tomorrow goes!)

So , it was jono that started that off !, I saw earlier today that Edwulf was getting a few blue squares up on odds checker,
So thought i'd better grab some of the 20-1 that betfred still had .To do with jockey bookings and running sun i s'pose.

not sure what to make of FFs run today. Jumped well and tired towards the finish. In need of the race???
Discuss......

Yeah an odd run. Looked the winner for much of the race but a disappointing finish into 3rd. if you looked at this race in isolation you'd question whether he stays the trip but we know it shouldn't be a problem on previous form. He was giving weight to both...

Decent race I thought considering his time off and the fact this would not have been the target. Staying should not be an issue based on his Punchestown handicap win.

FF was giving 3lbs to BigBadJohn and 7lbs to Flintham and not beaten far.
I wouldn't be too worried if I had any slips for the 4-Miler. (If he runs)
Should come on for the run

Ideal prep for the race from what I saw, very encouraging!

just watched a re-run of the reynoldstown. There was a lot to like about the winner even if he was really novicey throughout the earlier part of the race. FF produced a solid professional performance, good jumping off a decent pace. he flattened between the 2nd last and last, but ran to the line. Quite happy with that. My only worry is that this race could be by-passed for the IN. Come on Fry show some balls, Curtis wont be dodging the challenge.

On second watch though I still would have ideally liked to have seen a bit more at the end there Fletchers Flyer didn't tire as much as I thought when watching it live. Hopefully it was the weight taking it's toll along with if the Irish National and 4 miler have been the aims since last season, i'm sure they've held a bit back with the horse with those races in mind.

Fry has come out this morning saying American will likely go down the RSA route so that could make it more likely FF runs in this

I personally could not side with any horse in a 4 mile race that has had a hard race just 3 weeks before the festival

It's been a positive trend in recent years Liam, winners having prep in late Feb...

Didn't do any harm last year Liam as jono pointed out with todays race in Ireland:

"It's worth noting that Sunday's race at Navan last year had:

4 - Sub Lieutenant

Have to admit though, without looking in to this (or reading it after someone else has looked in to it) I would have definitely been avoiding them too....

Would be interesting to know who will come on for the run most. On face value there wouldn't be any reason to back FF over BBJ yesterday?

Fair point guys
Just watched race again
They did look to have hard races on heavy ground though
