2022 National Hunt Novices Chase

  • Horses must have run in at least two chases and must have finished in the first four in a chase staged over an extended two miles and seven and a half furlongs or further
  • Horses must have run at least once in a chase during the current season.

To be fair, They don't read very well do they ?:disturbed:
I bet everyone reads them through at least twice, and slowly the second time. I know I did.:lemo:

They aren't that clear! In an ideal world a chase over 2m5f to get him ready for a run over 3m would do me fine.

He hasn't got to run over 3 mile (or 2m 7f) this season, he's ticked that box.

I know he doesn't have to, but thats what I'd like to see. He only has 2 chase runs to his name and has been off and injured so I'd like to see a few runs, but one wouldn't be the end of the world.

I’ve never got DD - remember there being a lot of chatter last season, so looked back at his past races. Two extremely average (being kind) chase runs, and a 10 length beating by Minella Indo 2 1/2 years ago the best on show?

For me I’ll definitely be looking elsewhere until/unless he produces something this season that changes my mind - backing him now is a huge leap of faith.

Yep, I agree.
It's the only race where I have backed multiple horses in so far, so felt he needs to be in the book with cashout, especially if henderson mentions the race this week.
 
I’ve got Pure Genius backed for JP at the minute on the back of TW’s comments on him being a proper stayer etc, not a lot to lose at 50/1 imo. Hoping to see him out soon though.

Paddy’s are 25/1 while 365 still have him at 50/1, might be nothing but is some difference in price.

I have him too, at bigger. But I was hoping to see more of him by now.

Yeah same, especially as he doesn’t seem ground dependant although most has been on soft/heavy.
 
Fancy Foundations been mentioned for this?

It will be interesting to see if he's given an entry for the 3m novice chase at Cheltenham on Saturday ... (nearly sure it was Friday last year?) the same race Galvin won last season - has a similar profile where he ran in the summer a couple of times picking up experience - fell last time out in the G3 at Tipperary when coming into contention - Elliott did mention this meeting for him after his win at Sligo

Not even priced on oddschecker! So I could be completely wrong

I've noted him for it.
Waiting on entries for next saturday,
he's entered over the 2 mile trip on friday so seems like he's over his fall, unless gordon just fishing for a mark.

He seems to have quite an extreme soft ground action which I don’t think in general lends itself to the spring festivals. What with his injury problems and last season’s attempt, I can’t see him repeating another attempt at the BANC. I think he’s probably just shy of top class but I don’t a horse needs to be top class to win the NH Chase. Also, I think Henderson already has his BANC horse in Gallyhill hence I suspect DD will head here. Last season Henderson seemed to think DD was better than that but I suspect he will downgrade his expectations this season.

Anyone have any news regarding the wellbeing of Aione? He was on my radar last year for this race, but I heard that he'd had a setback and all quiet since. Perhaps he might be mentioned in Willie's RP stable tour in the next couple of weeks.

The owners are in Britain, so he runs the horse over here whenever he can, as they want him to do that.

I thought it worth mentioning in case anyone was getting over-excited about a Cheltenham plot.

Its possible, of course, but the owner link is probably the main reason he is running in Britain again.

I read it somewhere about the owner. And the company is UK based.
Although their horses run in Ireland more often than not.
He's not got a rating as yet over either discipline as far as I can tell.
The 2 mile entry looks unlikely unless it gets very wet.
I expect him to be entered on the Saturday when they come through.
