....it’s an interesting point, the horses Nicholls took from Mullins have hardly prospered but I suppose there are examples of others improving for a change. You have to think it’s an upheaval, though, perhaps mitigated if stable staff move with them.
 
Would they bother moving any horse to a new stable given they’ll probably be on the boat next Friday heading to Cheltenham

Not sure how switching trainers works but it’s not like the new trainer will be able to do much within a week outside of completing the paperwork.
couldn’t they switch trainers, leave the horses as is for time being, take them to the festival and then bring them back to their new yards afterwards?

its a fair point, they have done most of their fast work by now too.

Feel like we are going to be in for another rollercoaster day!

Yes and this is what will happen. People are getting way too hung up on the concept of a trainer switch. They’ll either run or they won’t but with a transfer of trainership, even if permanent, they’ll have still essentially been trained by Gordon for their races at the festival. EA can be backed readily at 2.2 on the exchange, which is as good indicator as any of any concerns.
 
Was Energunene always that short nrnb? Or just hammered in with all that's going on?
 
Someone mentioned it last night (can’t remember who) but the exchange volatility on Envoi Allen was probably people who have big positions on the horse.
Should he be withdrawn you will probably find a clamour for bets to be refunded by high st/online bookies, but not the exchange, so my guess is there’s a degree of covering taking place...
 
Hands up then - who kept their cool and got stuck into the prices when Envoi was on the drift on the exchange during the carnage last night?

(This isn't an aftertime post btw, I didn't put a penny on yesterday...)

Not me, i'm balls deep enough as it is. I wouldn't have been put off though, I like Henry, there's 2 weeks to go and Envoi is a cool customer.
 
I'd like to see Latest Exhibition have a pop in this race now on the potentially misguided notion that Envoi may be beatable/weaker now.

It does add an 'unknown' to Envoi Allen.

There is more chance than than before that something could unsettle him.

By all accounts he's laid back and all that though.... I wouldn't be changing my mind about feeling he'll always do enough, no matter what he's up against..... but perhaps he's less likely to off shortest price of the week as it's a genuine unknown.

More value to get stuck in to then!!

When horse's go to Cheltenham each year they stay away for a few days and it doesn't affect them then, so they will be alright. They're tough cookies!

The new yards will bring in the same supply of feed that they had previously and GE's and they will stay in a separate area of the paddock at their new home for these few weeks. 'The quarantine zone'. They will be fine. They also have company together and not going their alone (I presume they have been split up with friendships taken into account as well etc).

There is always a small element of doubt but I'm confident that they will all be fine at Cheltenham.

Yeah but Seainin has been there day in/day out with him & led him in for every race for the last few years....that’s a big change that’s unaccounted for.
 
I've never been convinced animals are as sentimental as we wish to portray/pretend, usually to make ourselves feel better. They enjoy good care, attention and food! As long as they get that at their news yards, which i'm sure they will, I don't think there's much to worry about.

It doesn't affect all of them.

It 100% affects some of them.


Given Envoi Allen has travelled over twice and won twice though, he's not one you'd need to get worked up over IMO.


I am not put off him at all, however I am feeling more relief than excitement about my bets being live than getting more money on.

Good point Lobos, I bet he juices his horses to the max for Cheltenham, it will be like seeing a dolly bird with no make up on for the first time, they’re either naturally beautiful and didn’t need all the make up anyway or they’re pigs and needed every bit of it to get by in life!!!

I think Envoi will be ok, all this isnt ideal and I still expect to him in 2 weeks

However, long term... you'd have to factor in the potential impact this move has long terms. I hope Henry can get the beat out of him... could be a cruse, imaging Envoi doesnt turn into a superstar in open company, people may start questioning whether it was the trainer's fault

Yes, Henry has picked up a great horse. But he'll be under pressure now and if he fail then I'm sure alot of people will put it down to the trainer
