National Hunt Challenge Cup Amateur Riders' Novices' Chase

Can you not see why he'd be value for the NH chase.
With the lack of qualifiers and quality in the race ?
The biggest danger is CS and he could easily go for something else now, after today. And still has to qualify, so has to be fit for the ten up and get round in first four.
He's 7-1 best price antepost and 5-1 NRNB.
I'm very surprised you don't see this.

Soz, I have backed him already at bigger price for the NHC. What I meant was that at the moment he is probably as big a price Any Race as he is for the NHC.

For those that hadn’t backed him previously now you could take c6/1 Any Race or 6/1 for the NHC, or 3/1 for the NHC NRNB.

Its been a two horse race for a while for me CC versus CS , this today just confirmed it. I reckon these two will be well clear jumping last , I just favour CC as i believe he jumps faster and gets away from them quicker.

I was obviously talking about Champagne specifically.

I was impressed with CS today and think this is the right race for him, but as low as 4-1 is a terrible price for a horse who isn't even qualified for the race. All it takes is him to miss the Ten Up and then he'll be rerouted to the RSA surely.

correct.
which makes the 5-1 NRNB for champagne classic so attractive.

I thought Mullins said post race he would miss Ten Up anyway and take in a later race ?

He didn’t...

“I’d like to get another run into before Cheltenham, and the Ten Up at Navan is a possibility. I often think it’s too near Cheltenham, but this fella doesn’t take too much out of himself racing.

“He’s well able to jump and he’s well able to gallop on at his fences. He’s also nice and careful when you leave him alone – so that’s all the things you want in a staying chaser.”

Mullins said: “This race wasn’t the plan, but I wanted to get experience into him because he missed running at Leopardstown.

“He was careful when he needed to be and got some good jumps when Paul wanted him. He learned a lot today, and we are very happy.

“He didn’t get too hard a race there. I hadn’t planned running at the Dublin Racing Festival – but maybe something just after that, he could go for before Cheltenham.

“The way he went around there, the National Hunt Chase would be right up his street, but we have to keep the RSA open as well.

3rd paragraph.....'something just after Dublin Racing Festival'....

Does Willie even know that CS needs to get qualified for this? Seems strange that the Ten Up is a 'possibility'.

Remember last year he didn't even know Ballyward hadn't even been entered in the RSA! :highly_amused:

He's well aware Innoko. Ruby said at the very end of the show that if CS runs in the Flogas he'll go RSA but Ten Up will give them the opportunity of the NH Chase.

It was hard not to be impressed with today's performance. Who would start fav if Champagne Classic and CS turn up in the NH Chase? I'd think it'd be CS, just.

Jockey booking of Codd would swing it to CC to being fav I reckon.

Dutching both is a fair approach if I was starting from scratch today.

After watching yesterdays race back cant see CS running anywhere but here. Dont think it would have a chance in a hot looking RSA. Have Patrtick build up a strong partnership over the coming weeks, bounce it out and gallop them into the ground. Doesnt need to be hassled around its fences.

I doubt they'd bounce out and aim to make all over a NHC trip. It's shaping up to be a nice race anyway. Two very high class horses. I wouldn't rule out CS becoming a gold cup horse next year at all. Obviously he needs to become more economical with his jumping, but he's only had the 2 runs.

"I would love to ride Carefully Selected in it," replied the 30-year-old when asked who he had his eye on for marathon event on day one of the festiva

Suspect the 6/1 on 365 will be gone by noon

I doubt it as still not qualified and Willie may yet send him to Leopardstown and down the RSA route as he has nothing in that race if Faugheen goes JLT.
