Triumph Hurdle 2019

I'd be putting a line through both runs personally - I won't be backing either tomorrow but to be confident on Fenta is a little misguided IMO.

I backed both any race so as long as one of them wins I won't complain :highly_amused:

I certainly wouldnt be confident! Just what I had in my mind when I looked at the betting. Looks the ultimate watching race with Mullins having the first three in the betting. Could have any number of plans for all three of them.

Why?

Fenta just ran to the first and fell over?

Is it the beating of French Made?

I thought Farid was more highly rated before either made their debuts....

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the ratings, it was only after one run, after all.

French Made form looks good after her debut, I think Farid was probably all hype, JP seems to have plenty more better than him, at this current time.

Something I do like, and it's more an out there view I take, not definitive, just something I pick up on, but I believe it was Archie (stand to be corrected) that said he see's breeding as they get their mental state from the sire and the engine or lack of, from the mare, Fenta Des Obeaux is by UDS's sire, Denham Red, I have a liking for trainers who have done well with previous sires progeny, especially ones that reach the very top, like I said, it's not definitive and she could turn out to be a pig, but it is something I do keep an eye on. I do like to cover every angle, no matter how stupid that sounds.

French Made form wont amount to much.

Hasn't beaten much and she was getting lumps of weight from most of the field.

Same strike a line through both and see what happens. The money that came for farid on debut was unreal. And defi de seuil and espoir d'allen were the last 2 winners of his bumper so I wouldn't write him off completely after his 1st run over hurdles where he folded tamely.

Hopefully 1 wins.
Even if both are beaten. 1 more run and they'll be seen as a "plot" for the fred winter and could easily be short enough for that.

FdO seems very headstrong (as Scooby pointed out), so i'm just hoping to see her settle and get round to see what sort of engine she has.

Farid a big drifter today. Out to 3/1 and the original outsider of Willie's three is now into favouritism Andalusa. Fred Winter could well be on the agenda for the other two.

The Sir Erec form could take a big boost if this wins well.

She was hampered by the faller who was tanking himself at the time.
Hard to judge future targets before the race runs today on betting alone. And would it be a big boost when we wouldnt know what shed be beating today.
Same applies if farid or fenta wins It would just be on to the next day.

Scooby, none of us have a crystal ball. The worth of any form can only be truly known in the fullness of time. But considering these horses will probably only have one more run before the festival, then yes I think it will be a boost, if in the limited formlines we posses come March, a horse that Sir Erec beat goes on to beat two highly rated types well.

We wouldn't back in any novice races if we didn't try to look at the form we have at that time, and interpret it as best we can.

Mullins horses are definitely not firing - top 3 in market today so will chance Pienta

Personal thought was it seemed a shade harsh to be tagging the other 2 as likely solely fred winter horses before the race. Just judged on betting alone.
All be it the way it may end up.
Iv still some hope that farid or fenta could hack up here and be in reckoning for the triumph.

Winner looked good. His flat form was good too. He's a live one going forward.
The ones in behind will indeed be looking for a place in the fred winter. Andalusa has enough runs. The other mullins 2 need 1 more. All 3 would have to have something they've kept back to figure in that

Disappointing from Farid. Winner looked decent, probably not upto winning a Triumph but an excellent start

Moving the "Any Race" bets on Fenta Des Obeaux and Farid out of the Triumph section of my spreadsheet and over towards the Fred Winter! Will have to soak up their losses there!

I can't see any of those horses getting into the Triumph, There handicap mark won't be high enough.

Unsure if this is sarcasm or you actually meant the Fred Winter, or maybe just unaware, but the Triumph isn't a handicap.
