August Festival Yankee

What about Waiting Patiently for the Ryanair currently best price 14/1? Surely connections have to seriously think about Cheltenham next year. I think theres plenty of improvement in him and he’ll kick on again, he’s been very cautiously treated thus far whilst being unbeaten since Jan 2016.

He’s coming into his prime now as an 8yr old so surely the Jeffersons will take the shackles off. Big season in him to come in my opinion.

It’ll be a very very good race in my opinion and with the desperation to keep him sound too, I’m not convinced they wouldn’t go for the GC instead if he was to be ran at the track.

Though I do think he’s top class and will give Might Bite a race in the KG.

3m around Kempton is a totally different ball game to 3m 2f around Cheltenham MOM. Personally I can see him getting the KG trip but the Gold Cup would be a step too far.

I’d be very keen on Monalee where he to take his chance here also but I think Waiting Patiently is one to really follow this year and I’ll be to keep him onside anyway.

He may well improve further, and IMO, he's going to have to, I know many raved about the performance against Cue Card but in reality the form from the horses he beat in that race has looked very weak indeed. For that and that alone, he needs to do more before I even consider him a prospect for Cheltenham, let alone the risk that connections clearly do not feel the need for him to run there, certainly not one for me!

You can only beat what is put on front of you COD, he’s only been down south twice and won comfortably. I think the Ascot form is better than the bare bones in the book. He jumped into the the lead there on the bridle and only had to be shaken up after the last to pull clear. He had more in the tank imo.

I’m on Monalee for the Ryanair already. Love the horse.

I agree it’s a very very different test. But we already know they are reluctant to run him at Cheltenham. I’m sure I rememebr Ruth Jefferson saying last year he may never actually run a race in his life at the track!

But if he goes very close in the KG (which I think he will) and they are eventually tempted into a crack at the famous Cheltenham hill, they will surely go all out and go for the big one rather than the Ryanair? If thy are going to go for it in March, they may as well go all out and go for the big race. Especially if he’s just gone within a couple of lengths for example at Kempton of the GC favourite (MB). All theoretical of course but that’s my view on it.

I agree with pretty much all of the above regarding Waiting Paitently. My thoughts on him as an ante post bet though are fairly negative. My personal take on it was they were being stubborn last year and using the "frailty" as an excuse.... he got his ground and still didn't run.

14/1 would be an incredible bet if I knew he was going to run in the Ryanair, he's a class above Monalee IMO and would be (at this stage) of huge interest. The problem is, I don't want to be on a 14/1 non runner and its hard enough for a horse to be fit and well on the day, without the added worry of whether the trainer will WANT to run or not.

The King George 2018 has been the aim from pre-Cheltenham this year.... so I wouldn't be on WP for Cheltenham 2019 at this stage, if its not his number 1 target.

I don't think its a bad bet at all, just one that I'd need a bit of propting on to part with my money now.

As soon as N.R.N.B hit's the shelves , I think Waiting patiently will be well backed .

Paloma Blue - Arkle .
Bacardys - N.h.chs.
Topofthegame - R.s.a.
P. Percy - Gold cup. ------- , Suggestion ???????

It sounds like WP is an unlikely runner in the King George.

Personally, I wouldn’t be a fan of Waiting Patiently after they skipped Cheltenham last year and with doubts on a return date.

Maybe for a December/January bet when we have a return date as it’s very unlikely he would shorten in that time.

I wouldn’t be too unhappy with tossing a Champion Hurdle docket the way of Samcro at this point.

Yeah we very much could add Samcro CH to this at this stage.

I'll third that selection.

I wouldn't be against that either

Biggest problem with Samcro is he has more targets then on a mods Parker.we have had horses names put up with only 1 race it could go for that hasn’t got in. So a horse with 4 targets is madness in my book but hey ho.
