If they didn't do much with Buveur D'air, is impressive he's still beaten the rest of the field... and the way Nico "rode" the finish, I can't help feel he didn't want to get his head in front. They can't have expected Verdana Blue to beat Buveur D'air, so perhaps it'll be a shot in the arm for Nicky to not tale any chances and tube him up properly for his races? He's said he takes his work and racing well, so instead of a walkover in the contenders, they could really really consider the much tougher Dublin racing festival ...

I thought the look across from geraghty after the line was as if to say "what do you think your doing" kind of looks. I thought Nico did a good job on VB but I was disappointed with geraghty in the finish, seemed to assume he won the run to me fair to early on and by the time he realised there was still a race on it was too late.

I wasnt on either but was a great race, dont think the mistake at the 3rd last made any difference either.

I thought after defeat against BD that Samcro would benefit for a pace maker, others disagree and they could be right, be interesting to see if Pet Mouch is there tomorrow for pacemaking duties and if so if it improves Samcro. Either interesting development

Would totally agree with that and I think PM would need to pace set regardless

Could Espoir D’allen finally be a 4 yr old who steps up as a 5yr old in open company?

Beating the best of his class easily

Was impressive today HF, race probably set up nicely for him but did it well.

Champion Hurdle crowd hardly a stellar lot so not impossible!

Would probably need to see him out of his company, so probably not...

but 25/1 NRNB isn't a foolish bet, as I'm not sure they'd just chuck him in it for the sake of it.

I'm keen on Melon's chances today at Leopardstown, what price for the Champion Hurdle should he win ?

Not a clue. Maybe 4/1. But they'll all be bigger on the day than they will be tomorrow morning.

Sub 4/1 (3/1 would be my guess)

but he'd need to beat Samcro further than Buveur D'air did to goWreally short. Which will be pretty hard to achieve!

Mullins' horses don't seem to be at their peak, fitness wise, which is the only thing stopping me backing Melon today.

Very good horse bobby, just can't understand why he's running over 2m having looked a stayer since his debut...

Won the Irish CH over 2m

Doesn't stay 3m strongly?

That can't be that hard to understand :p

Won more 2 mile grade ones in open company than his opposition

The short logic - 2nd run out is always the best time to catch Supasundae (form 1,1,2), Mullins have run noticeably below par this Christmas (Melon is making his debut), Samcro is probably in the wrong division, Sharjah is hit and miss and best form is beating Faugheen (no longer a 2 miler)

What price does Supasundae go if he wins this beating No #3 and #4 in the market?

Then there's the wild card - he basically ran on soft all last season and won two 2m G1s. If he travels better on GTS there could be further improvement. This part is obviously guesswork.

Any time a trainer sends a horse to the champion bumper you know that stamina will be his long term game, not many come from that race and end up top 2 milers, there have been a few but not many.
Very good 2 miler definitely, but for me his future is over further...

Not at all, he's proven on quicker ground...

Samcro would be an inplay bet if I’ve ever seen one

If he goes to the front of lay him all day if I was into that sort of thing

Hope PM sets a good pace and Melon and Samcro can show their best

In the context of 2 miles. Basically we don't really know if he's quick enough yet, today will tell us. I'm not looking too far back in his form because I think there has been significant maturing since.
