Have WH gone over the top on Summerville Boy at 56.5/1?

First time out (1st Dec 2018)- You can forgive that, as he'd definitely have needed the run, and drifted hugely which lends itself to the suggestion he wasn't cherry ripe.

Second/Last time out (15th December 2018) - harder to strike a line through... HOWEVER...can we forgive him his Pre-Christmas form?

Last season as a novice....

First time out (21st Oct '17) an RPR of 120
Second time out (19th Nov '17 at Chelt) an RPR of 137
Third run (second run at Cheltenham - 15th Dec 2017) he regressed and put in an RPR of 130.
4th Run - out of nowhere, he puts in an RPR of 150!(6th Jan 2018), winning the grade 1 Tolworth
5th run was the Supreme that he won, given an RPR of 156

As it's been documented before, he ran the EXACT SAME TIME as Buveur D'air that day

So is 56.5/1 a little bit big, if we ASSUME that Summerville Boy will be a better horse after Christmas? A course and distance winner, in the exact same time as the Champion Hurdler despite not being able to jump?

I think it's more likely he just handled the ground better than everything else in that Supreme. Can't imagine him improving out of recognition to figure in this after Christmas (unless we get that ground again).

56/1 is big though....

Labaik 20/1 NRNB

Since beating Melon, Melon has improved and was a close 2nd last year, but Melon is 5/1 (NRNB) and you'd take 4 times the price on the horse that travelled all over him wouldn't you?

Getting more and more concerned that money will be coming back to you

Or he turns up in the county and demolishes the field

Money coming back - I can live with that

Winning the County Hurdle.... there is no chance I'd not back him in that race so I'd be happy with that too :highly_amused:

12/1 they offered me on petit mouchoir :highly_amused:
Not quite the 50s I expected or 66s I hoped for.

Haha. NRNB ruined that then.

Not really worth thinking about him again though, won't be winning it and Brain Power must have left you in a good spot.

Not a fan of NRNB already. Given them a chance to tighten in all the prices, when we were effectively using it NRNB anyway

I can't see an ew bet. It probably was brain power. But I snapped there hand off when cashout was 4 x my stake. For a horse I was trying to sneak a 3rd at 50s.

Not an each way race at the moment.

Buveur D'air has one of the slots taken up. Melon deserves to be seriously considered on last years run. Samcro despite disappointing still holds valid place claims.

Summerville Boy 56/1 with WH was my poke last night but he may not run.

Horrible market still.

Laurina (from Mullins in the RP today)

She's great. She won't run over Christmas and at the moment the mares hurdle at Sandown early next month is tempting me more than the Relkeel at Cheltenham on New Years Day. I wouldn't like to start her off against potential CH types so Sandown might be the most suitable place for her to start back

Sounds like it's in the wrong thread to me :p

Nico looked like he didn't want to win, value for a bit more.

They've gotta get rid of this 7lb mares allowance in the Grade 1's haven't they?

Nico is so good in a finish.
