Cashed out samcro now, coming round the bend I thought we were about to see a repeat of his Deloitte hurdle win but it’s done
Money back atleast

The short logic - 2nd run out is always the best time to catch Supasundae (form 1,1,2), Mullins have run noticeably below par this Christmas (Melon is making his debut), Samcro is probably in the wrong division, Sharjah is hit and miss and best form is beating Faugheen (no longer a 2 miler)

What price does Supasundae go if he wins this beating No #3 and #4 in the market?

Then there's the wild card - he basically ran on soft all last season and won two 2m G1s. If he travels better on GTS there could be further improvement. This part is obviously guesswork.

I'd be fairly happy with that if I was Harrington. He's going to love that hill, just a bit tapped for toe there but #3 and #4 beat.

Happy to concede that Samcro is just not good enough as a 2m hurdler now. Had some doubts purely because of tactics they used previously, but had a pace to aim at today and clearly just not good enough.

Think Samcro has lost something since he lost a shoe in the Ballymore... It was always highly likely he was too big to be a champion hurdler but there is something off, not finding the gears like he did last year.

Did the shoe have a propellor fitted ?:devilish:

Or hes in open grade 1 company over 2m. Others have progressed. And he's just not that good.

LOL :highly_amused:

That race definitely took something out of him imo, he was pushed far harder than needed to win that, it was a good win and a good performance but he did look troubled. Hindsight is a great thing of course...

That’s a big hole in BDA form - how long since a novice won it

Could do with them changing route for Samcro now, as have him 'any race' though find it highly unlikely myself.

Can't believe Melon is out to 14/1 based on that seasonal return against race fit rivals.

Has a neck to find with Buveur D'air on known form between the pair.

Agree with you there, Melon comes on a bundle for his races

Watching the betting with regards to him is interesting the yard clearly bundles in on him when he’s in good form

Why is it

Heavy testing ground at Newcastle versus Good-Yielding over in Ireland!

Samcro is a stayer in my book so veery little chance today over 2 milers over faster ground.

The novices from last year are looking dire, I stand by that.

BDA over easing good to soft, soft to heavy or heavy ground wins the Champion Hurdle. I think Melon would be close. Nothing else gets to these two

If we get amazing spring ground, and they have to water, then I would open the door slightly to something getting to BDA.... but I would still back BDA to win

I don't know how anyone could side with Melon, take away that run at Cheltenham where BDA looked very off and his resume is very poor.
