Where will they go ?

Agreed GS, front 2 well clear and Honey now retired, think Love Envoi will improve again
I've had a few bob on Love Envoi already at 10's and popped her in a handful of doubles for some nice boosts

I wouldn't be taking this years Mares Hurdle TOO literally..

The first 3 were in the first 4 throughout the whole race and off a very sedate pace, these were allowed to kick clear off the home bend and caught all the jockeys held up napping.

This is my key takeaway from the race.

Doesn't mean LE won't win next year, but it's hard to believe the circumstances will be as favourable to her. If they are, 10/1 will look an unbelievable price though
 
Agree with how the race was run suiting Love Envoi. There's also good mares coming through from both the mares novice and Triumph this year... Which would concern me regarding LE.
 
I'd only back love envoi now if you think she will win at punchestown

Worth waiting to see what that field looks like

Yeah, good point. She may well be OTT like last year. Surprised they are even contemplating it.
 
Not sure the race was run to suit Love Envoi. Think they just realized it was going to be a slow race so she had to make her own pace. She may have been even better off a fast pace. All hindsight.

I can accept she may have been or may be even better off a fast pace, but the argument that the race wasn't run to suit LE is very, very questionable. She front ran in a race where front runners dominated the final standings so it categorically suited her more than those horses who were held up given the way the race panned out. Whether she ran to the best of her ability given she front ran is a question that can definitely be debated and is the crux of the 10/1 value question

It’s a fair point.

A horse coming out of her juvenile season being 5/1 whilst LE is double the price after finishing 2nd in an open age grade 1 over C&D is another.

I understand there’s other horses coming out of the triumph at bigger odds, there’s the MNH division, there’s probably some injured I’ve forgotten about too etc etc. Not suggesting LE is going to win next year’s MH, nor that this year’s race wasn’t run to suit her…just that a double figure price isn’t bad value IMO (relatively speaking).

If she is to stay racing am guessing it’s over hurdles.

We know previous connections were on about retiring her to breeding, now under Donnellys ownership it’s abit more clouded.

Perhaps they are planning to build towards breeding as well so chasing would be a bit more of a risk to take.
 
Bit of an update on next season plans for Constitution Hill, Henderson when interviewed today saying - “It’s possible Aintree could be his last run over hurdles. Everything is possible. There are more opportunities over fences to start with, which would lead to the Arkle and the Champion Chase or maybe even the Gold Cup if he stays. A real superstar is a horse that can adapt to everything.”

They will look to school him over fences after Aintree and decide from there. From listening to Barry Geraghty previously, he says he jumps a fence just fine from when he schooled him as a 3 year old

I'm struggling to see why State Man is a much bigger price than IEP for the champ hdle. Willie already said he'd like to keep him hurdling as his technique was so good. They felt he slightly underperformed last year and with Con Hill potentially going chasing, the door will be fully open for him to try win a champion hurdle.

David Casey thought Impaire was a proper 2 and half miler so the Turners would seem the right call for him, I'd have it:

Arkle - Con Hill
CH - State Man
Turners - Impaire Et Passe
 
I'm with Darlo. State Man deserves to have another crack at the Champion Hurdle without the Hill in there. He is the reigning Irish Champion Hurdle winner after all beating one of the best Hurdlers ever seen.

Yeah I agree, take the freak winner away and State Man is a good winner, I could get interested in taking the 8/1.
That said, I also love the look of Marine Nationale, that turn of foot he showed after the last was serious, if he were to stay over hurdles I think he'd be a big player...

For me MN is the danger to SM. His Jockey has already said that he'd beat IEP which stuck with me as it was such a random thing to say.
