Weekend Racing

....i couldn’t see an Irish Grand National thread, threw my first dart at Bellow Mome @ 25-1.

It’s disappointing to see only 4 places being offered by B365 for the NRNB Irish National market at present, it’s s mind field of a race as Mullins & Elliot enter so many. I think I’ll wait until Monday to see how the markets moving as it tends to have more of an impact on the winning horses unlike the British ‘Nationals’. My choices at present are Measure of my Dreams & Jury Duty.

Interesting day’s racing at Fairyhouse today. Some quick thoughts:
2.05 Free Ranger. Ran much better than finishing position reflected in the Ladbroke and has a leading chance on ground he will relish
3.15 Mount Hanover Will be his last run over hurdles before going chasing. It has been the plan to come here for a while. Ground much faster than he has run on before but full brother won on good ground so wouldn’t be put off. (Guaranteed to be withdrawn due to ground now)
3.50 Petit Mouchoir we’ll know within 20 seconds because, surely, he has to make the running this time doesn’t he?
4.20 Ordinary World (and I realise I sound like the Chairman of the De Bromhead fan club by this point). Obvious stamina doubts but I just don’t see where the pace is going to come from and this horse has been overfaced for three seasons.
5.00 Total Recall While I must admit to being perplexed by the Mullins jockey bookings here, this horse has the ability, form and stamina to win this.

....Arkwrisht ran a great race in the Irish National last year, was right in it at the final fence when hampered. There will be much worst 66-1 chances running today.

Last year's race was run on very heavy ground. This year it will be quite fast and this will be a big help for Whisperinthebreeze who beat Cadmium 10l in February with Jessie saying that the quick ground made all the difference. Decent ew chance at 20/1 or thereabouts.

You can get 5/1 3 places 1/4 the odds with 365 which seems fair in that race for Petit Mouchoir

Played three in the Irish National.

Jury Duty 12/1 E/W
Total Recall 16/1 E/W

The Irish Grand National is a mine field, I’ve opted for Gun Digger & WhisperintheBreeze but based on weight they are carrying. Also got a Lucky 63 including Off You Go, Storyteller, Mormom, Walk To Freedom, Shady Operator & Gardens Of Babylon. Good luck all

Rock the Kasbah looks big at 14's in the 3.35 at Sandown. Run well in this a couple of times before, brought down in the Nash just as he appeared to starting a forward move, and the same price as he was before 7 were taken out. Ground should suit, Dickie Johnson on board, just the question of lugging 11st 4lb around for over three and a half miles, worth a few bob ew methinks.
Also backed Just a sting at 12's, now around 6's, but will be a huge rule 4, at the other end of the handicap for Harry Fry and Sean Bowen.

Am I the only one who thinks Altior could be a bit vulnerable today?

Sandown is sharper than Cheltenham and he needed the hill to pull away, good ground will suit Sceau royal and he could start jumping left as we saw earlier in the season.

SR into 3/1 from 4s and Altior is our to 2/7 so either the markets are correcting themselves or people are taking him on

I know it's just happened but I thought the same earlier, then thought I can't back Sceau Royal because I'll feel silly because I know Altior will run away from him after the last. :highly_amused:

I can't wait for him to destroy Cyrname in the King George

Is Altior better the other way around

Is Altior better the other way around

Certainly better left handed, hes shown his tendancy to jump very left a couple of times this year on RH courses, however when he can take off after the last like he does I dont think it really matters :highly_amused:
