Weather Watch 2026

Is anyone actually making any bets based on any information in this thread ?
Or just enjoy talking about the weather.

I used to work in a Bank on the counter, and the number of people who walked up and started talking about the weather caused me to develop Tourette's syndrome.
Or at least that's what I told them.

Ofc people will be, posters and particularly senior posters need to acknowledge that people listen to them and act on what they say. This forum is probably the single most respected source of opinion and information in the entire ante post arena now and we need to recognise and take very seriously the responsibility that comes with it imo. It has moved way beyond a number of like minded passionate people sharing an obsession. It is now a serious commercial platform. Of course we have fun and enjoy it but it really has become very purposeful.

:encouragement: Agree mostly, my comment was just a more light hearted way of saying what you said immediately prior.

Yeah I know , I just needed to get the other stuff off my chest , wasn’t the best example to choose but the opportunity presented itself and I didn’t think you’d mind :biggrin-new:

Is it? Interested to know your inside information on this :highly_amused:

As wet as it was this morning there’s a really strong gusty cold wind now which will help dry it, I’m on a housing site literally a stones throw away

Platform for commercial success not commercially successful …though you should consider the possibility :glee: thats a whole new ball of cheese of course. How about kevloaf obe as an altruistic alternative :excitement:

I'm so pedantic that I want to see that it's literal. How good are you at throwing stones?
I'm a below average 'thrower' ... could I make it?

I want more emojis to play with

When I saw you'd posted I was expecting news of a Snowbombing incoming :loyal::love_heart:

Yeah I think I was overestimating my throwing power as my Google maps says I’m exactly 0.22 miles from the course :glee:

Sounds like you can take over the weather updates now :loyal:

I'd back your ability to throw a stone 0.22 miles over my ability to throw a stone 20 miles :afro:

The big question is, when you throw your stone, how big a splash will it make? How far into the ground does it go? I think we need video evidence.

If you walk the field next to the site it’s surprisingly firm, but how much stock you can actually put in that I don’t know as it’s all been artificially moved with machines etc and they’ve probably dumped hardcore and whatever else underneath :excitement:

were on the bricklaying side of things and are obviously made of sugar and don’t work in the rain, We’ve got a full week in this week and haven’t been rained off once, so not that much rain has actually fell in the working day.

one thing about working here it’s always f’in windy so imagine the course gets its quick drying nature from that along with there drainage system!

Blanket of snow in South Glos this morning!!

Did it hit the course??

2nd March @ Kim Bailey's:

Plus 2 and damp when driving in. 12mm of rain, but snow on the hill above the yard this morning

….reminds me of being there when The Thinker won the GC in the snow.

It snowed in the lead-up to Dessie's 1989 GC win too. That's my favourite race of all time. Everything was against Dessie that day (heavy going, left-handed track, stamina test of 3m2f) but he had the will and courage to win. I read that, on the morning of the race, Dessie's owner Richard Burridge, was desperately searching for David Elsworth to withdraw the horse but Elsworth kept dodging in and out of the toilets and bars to avoid him because he was desperate to run the horse!! Listening to the late, great, Peter O'Sullivan's commentary brings me out in goosebumps every time!!

Almost my least favourite race of all time. Poor old Ten Plus would have won by ten plus lengths.
