Triumph Hurdle 2021

Munir/Suede currently have Night And Day with Willie Mullins and while she was no great shakes on the flat, she did cost €90,000 and is a half-sister to Supasundae. Have not seen any others yet but Francois Nicolle has the Cambaceres down as a target for Raffles Face so it would be unlikely that he will be seen in the UK or Ireland before the new year in any case. Since 2008, Munir/Suede have had five runners in the Cambaceres and two of them would run in the UK although Beau Gosse did so while still in the care of Guillaume Macaire and Master Dino did so under the same trainer as a five-year-old. They have had plenty of ex-french juveniles over the years including the likes of Top Notch, Peace And Co, Bristol de Mai, Call Me Lord, Fusil Raffles, Gitane du Berlais and Footpad. However, all of these without exception began their hurdling careers in the spring under different owners and none of them had an autumn campaign in France. Pic d'Orhy left the Nicolle yard after finishing second in 2018 and made his UK debut in the Triumph although that was in the de la Hey colours. Lots can happen between now and March although that also means a lot would have to happen if Raffles Face was to participate in this season's Triumph.

As for today's race, I would mostly be guessing although in strictly in terms of kilos and lengths, Jeu de Paume is weighted to reverse placing with all of his rivals on his latest two outings and also has a fitness edge over Magneto which is why I am surprised that he is currently the outsider on the PMU. That said, no result would be especially perplexing.

Any update on Quixillos please Kotkijet. Name keeps getting banded around so thought who best to ask.

It would appear that I owe William Hills, 10bet and and Sport Nation an apology. Following yesterday's Prix Robert Lejeune, attherraces' French expert Laurent Barbarin informed viewers that the connections of Baladin de Mesc do apparently have designs on a campaign which includes a visit to Cheltenham next spring. May this serve as a reminder that while I may be fairy adept at researching this topic, my sources are essentially restricted to what is available in the public domain and my ear is no closer to the ground than any other five foot nine-ish gentleman. Though it would be disingenuous for me to retract the implication that bookmakers are deceitful parasites, it was incorrect of me to use Baladin de Mesc's inclusion on some Triumph lists as a justification and for that, I apologise.

For those who missed yesterday's race, the replay can be found here. At odds of 10.2/1, Hermes Baie was not particularly well fancied but he was runner up on his debut behind Jeu de Paume and got off the mark on his next start in June on his first run at Auteuil. The front two pulled clear of the remainder and if Baladin de Mesc is to run in the UK, he brings with him form of a most respectable standard in the context of those who have already been imported.

Now from a French trained horse listed at 33/1 for the Triumph, we move on to a Scottish trained one currently available at 66/1. Red Missile has his run for Lucinda Russell tomorrow afternoon and a preview of the race can be found in the Juvenile Hurdlers thread on the National Hunt section of the forum.

Hello The Beast. I am not in contact with anybody at the Gordon Elliott yard either directly or by proxy so everything I know about the horse is essentially what I wrote in this thread's opening post. There have not been any updates recently in the public domain but there may be something in OJA, the arrival of which I am still eagerly anticipating. The way he won his sole outing in the Prix d'Essai des Poulains was very taking and his jumping was good throughout. Insofar as the form of that race since I made that post is concerned, the fourth placed I'm Walking since came out best at the weights in a Prix Royal Junior which featured five previous winners and fifth placed Losange Vert won the steeplechase for three-year-olds yesterday at Auteuil so will presumably be going to the Prix Congress as one of the favourites. The tailed off Chudamani has since won a little race of his own at Jarnac. The winning time of Quilixios' division was two seconds quicker than the one earlier on the card and the runner-up in that race, Raffles Face, was a respectable third in yesterday's Prix Robert Lejeune.

Unfortunately, that has basically exhausted what I can tell you about Quilixios for the time being so if anybody else has any further updates then they would be most appreciated!

As we've come to expect Kotkijet, you've basically nailed it in one :encouragement:

The form is one that certainly has a feel of solidity about it. I'm not sure how long after OJA starts arriving, the 25's currently available will last.

Re Midnight's Legacy if you Google him there's a heartwarming story regarding why he was bred to be a jumping stallion.

Some blue on Oddschecker for a couple:

Paros 18/1
Hero's Dainey 22/1

If we see Saint Roi, Put the Kettle on, Felix desjy (over fences) Quilixos and some of the others entered up in the graded races - the season starts this weekend!

I feel like it's the festival already seeing these names :highly_amused:

Mental isn't it. Loads of good ones entered up. My festival could be over come Sunday tea time!

24 weeks of checking injury and target news and striking a line through more ante post bets...

Absolutely. We are all fucking mental sadists!

Hes well onside now in a few each way singles, would love him to bolt up!

Backed Quilixios with Hills 1pt 25/1 before his intended run at the weekend. Usually leave the Triumph well alone but this year is a strange one so had a pop.

The prospect of Quilixios making his debut on Saturday is obviously exciting but Duffle Coat is also entered for the race and as the pair are in different ownership, it is not impossible that they both face the starter. After all, Duffle Coat was due to take on Longclaw recently at Listowel before being taken out in the morning.

If Quilixios is the yard's sole runner at Gowran Park then he should be a long odds-on favourite. However, on good ground around an easy track, Duffle Coat won't be a pushover and it wouldn't be a massive hit to his reputation if Quilixios couldn't score first time out.
