Absolutely no worries, Kev. Makes sense and the thread easier to read. I didn’t even realise you could shorten the quote and it would still work!
 
Also, i’m TCH29. After joining I realised there is someone using TC2 as a handle, which is obviously very similar. Apologies if I was 2nd to the party. We are different people though!
 
Solo - given a revised rating of 157!

Bloody hell, I love the horse but that’s some mark for a juvenile after just 3 runs, 1 in Britain. Should be winning 99% of all Triumphs & competitive in a champion hurdle if the handicappers got that right!!
 
That is mad, Splinter!! Seriously?! After that one run against mid 120 horses?!

So he’d win the Supreme too, will win the Triumph by 5+ lengths and probably be in the frame for this year’s Champion Hurdle! Some view taken by the handicapper!!
 
I think Sir Erec was rated 151 going in last year, is he really 6lbs clear off a horse most thought would hose up in the race last year? I’ve tried to do a search on ratings going into the Triumph but hitting a blank but from a historical context this must be one of the highest surely? I’d have thought 150-152, not entirely sure how the handicapper has come up with that mark?

But you’re right, based on ratings he’s going to be 7-10lbs clear of most of the top of the market?
I took 16/1 a few days before the Adonis but I couldn’t have him at his current odds. This rating would challenge that view though!
 
One of a number of ridiculous ratings given this year by the handicapper.
 
I was blown away Saturday with him but even I think thats a little silly, but if its near or even a few just a few lbs out he should be going off evens for this, however its hard to see how they have him that high. Wonder if the Racing Post ratings team are frantically reviewing the run and about to amend lol. Their first stab 135 did seem very low. Either way 4/1 was a cracking price and hes going off 2/1 or lower.
 
And more importantly than this Solo rating thing... Grand Roi 144. All being well will run at Aintree in the G1 now and hope the Triumph brigade have a hard race and skip it!!!!!!

I backed Solo after Saturdays win but I do believe the handicapper must have found Hendo's hip flask and downed the entire content :highly_amused:
 
A side from the ratings, I saw Nicholls has said Solo will likely be gelded in the summer in preparation for a chasing career.

Is anybody else surprised by that? If he won the Triumph he could be a new stallion on the block. I believe that was the plan for Sir Eric, just seems strange that it isn’t even a question. As much as the owner doesn’t need the money I would think it would be tempting

If a horse is good enough to win these top races with his nuts intact and remain an entire then why have them gelded, it annoys me.

They can still go on to have a good racing career, and breed thereafter, if required.

As regards jumping fences it's Just something else that can catch the top of the fence though (imagine that):highly_amused:

I'm often surprised at the low price of breeding fees for some very good horses, you can have classic winners cover your mare for £5k or less, this gives you more.

What an interesting site that is with some great images.

We visited the Irish National stud last summer and was almost worth every penny except I leaned on the paddock rail to give Hurricane Fly a stroke and found myself stuck to the creosote by my sleeve on a brand new jacket:rolleyes:
