this week's entries

I was thinking they’d skip bumpers too. If he does stay in bumpers then it won’t change my opinion of him being a festival candidate. I think he could be very useful even without obstacles. He was my top pointer to follow this season.

Completely agree. Of the 5yo pointers it was him and An Tobar for me. The 33/1 about him for the bumper seems very fair if he's declared here. No entry in the hurdles at Christmas either which is probably telling.

He’d not been mentioned in any stable tours which meant I had to take a punt on bumpers versus hurdles. I sided with hurdles but held off backing until some entries were forth coming. I really think he’s a weapon that could be competitive in bumpers despite my inclination for hurdles.

Just seen Nick Rockett is in the same race. Going to be interesting to see who Patrick chooses. Could be a good indicator.

Would be unlike Willie to declare both this early in the season if he likes them. But if they did both stand then jockey booking would be telling. Nick Rockett has some winners from his point in the same way An Tobar and Bazza The Butcher.

Nick Rockett managed to win his P2P going away after coming from near the back late on despite making a pretty bad mistake a few jumps out. I backed him twar a while back in the hope he might be quite useful.

Now that we’re pretty sure it’s bumpers, I’ve taken the 50s with 365. Good price that

….next best is 20-1 so that is a good price. I’m in with a little interest.

5 years old already. Could be one bumper and then a hurdle race at Xmas. Good price though.

Yeah that is a worry (same with Facto To File) but where would he run? I suppose the Grade 2 2m7f at Limerick? It seems to me as though Willie has entered virtually all of his top hurdlers (regardless of trip preference or maiden status) in the 2m hurdle at Leopardstown and he wasn't.

Possibly a maiden. Hadn't looked at the graded race entries. Does seem to signal a bumper campaign may be the choice.

I would say he will go this way. The Nice Guy won this race for Willie last season before going hurdling.

Plus the bumper on Sunday is the race Willie has normally sent his better bumper horse for that season if they’ve been out that early. Ferny ran in that one. So as per the market Chapeau looks Willies main bumper horse that is going to be out this early

This weekends cards at Fairyhouse could be as strong as the DRF if a lot of the entries get declared. It’s stacked, can’t wait to head along on Sunday! Saturday is usually a stocking filler but it will be anything but if a lot of Willies take their chance.

Appreciate It ran in the Saturday bumper the same year as Ferny won his on the Sunday. So he’s split his two best across the Saturday and Sunday before with both staying in bumpers for the season.

Also, TNG was ineligible for the champion bumper last year, so Mullins had no choice to divert to hurdles in the new year once he was 7.

Ya I believe one bumper race in fairyhouse is for four olds only so it was a natural split that year.
He just ran one in each race as well that year and this year he has 2 entered in each race. Interesting that neither Ferny or Appreciate it, actually won that weekend and ended up 1st and 2nd in March

Only I Am Maximus declared in the opener at Fairyhouse Saturday, disappointing! Against Minella Crooner.

Facile Vega in the 2m maiden against Arctic Bresil.

Nick Rockett declared against Shannon Royale and Steller Story for Elliott.

Good on Henry for taking Vega on with one of his potential big guns. He never backs down from a challenge. This could be reminiscent of Ferny Hollow versus Bob Olinger.

Quais de Paris and Gaelic Warrior entered in a 2m Maiden Hurdle at Tramore on 6th Dec.

I think ground dependant we’ll see a whole host of WPM’s big guns next weekend (10th 11th) at Navan and Punchestown.

Just wonder if that’s enough time for recovery for the Xmas exploits as both fixtures are later than usual.
