Supreme Novices 2018

What do people make of the huge money on the back and lay side on Getabird on the exchanges? £80k against him at 3.0 and £65k waiting to back him at 3.05? Price control?

Pretty normal for a big race, people that have bigs prices on him with be trying to lay some off plus some of it will be bookies money..

The bookies don't have bookmakers anymore, they have betfair traders. Massive amount of this money will be bookmakers traders. It'd why the game is more opinion based and over the next decade we'll see more an more false favs and more an more beaten favs.

Decided to leave the Sky Bet offer.

It would have been a no-brainer on Paloma Blue given the usual ground. Still an outside chance his class could still see him place but it depends on how long Russell can keep him on the bridle.

So many doubts about the favourite. How big a problem will going left handed be? I suspect Walsh will be at pains to get some cover on the inside. How much of a problem will First Flow be to his run style? How good is the form?

Kalashnikov didn't really get up the Sandown hill and all his form is on flat tracks. Likely he will need to travel much better than he did at Newbury. Also concerns about the inexperienced jock at this level. Even with the race won he managed to conjure a horlicks at the second last at Newbury.

Just incase they pop in on this thread.

The competition.

Still to bet

The track bias for Getabird was highlighted by Kevin Blake this morning, they showed footage and it looked worse than I remember, he is defo against him, he also pointed out an increasing tendency to jump right by Apples Jade

Well done the lads who had summerville boy. Couldn't have had him personally.

Bit of a bummer if you backed Paloma Blue each-way 3 places but even allowing for the winner's mistake would be very surprised if going forwards he isn't the best of those four. I think Russell was hanging on thinking he wouldn't get up the hill and by the time he asked him the other three had gone.

All the negatives about Getabird proved to be spot on.

Had a bigger bet on Getabird (too keen) and in doubles & trebles, but also took Betways offer free bet first race or last & have the winner, did not really fancy him but still got my money back for the race, so not happy but also not totally disappointed.

GL all in the next...

That Betway offer is first AND last race btw

I was just talking to a friend,

2 years ago was getting rave reviews before getting injured and ruled out of the champion bumper. This year was very short but had never run on the left handed track. Getabird has followed previous routes to good Mullins horses and won.

I did have getabird at Cheltenham and I just had him to win 5+ lengths today purely based on weaker opposition but I do think he isn’t quite up to the top class standard.

So just not top class or is Cheltenham the issue?

The course for me.
We all heard the horror stories about him turning right at the opening fence in his point before running out at the second, todays track was always going to help.....
