Supreme Novice Hurdle 2019

I doubted whether he would come forward from his maiden, the form was poor and he carried his head eye I didn't think he was in love it. I thought Coeur Sublime and Lamarckise would put it up to him but both were non runners so I cashed my lay bet.

He got an easy lead but the response when the button was pushed was instant and he jumped the last two at pace very well. The horses he left behind are solid Fred Winter horses. The sectional boys think he's a monster. He was a group 1 flat horse and he is translating that to jumps.

I hope Pic makes it he's my main bet and biggest liability. I missed the price on Sir Erec (apart from a double with Le Richebourg) but backed 11/4 which I'll lay off on the day.

Danny Kirwan has not been mentioned much on this forum unless I’ve missed it and he wasn’t that far behind Angels Breath in his last race st Ascot. He cost a lot of money and with PN yard. Does he not enter equations for the Triumph or SNH??

He can't run in the Triumph.

And has been mentioned a fair bit at the beginning of the Supreme & Ballymore threads :)

Pic d'orhy isnt even sure to be running so that has to be factored into his price, as does the fact running in the Triumph hurdle on your UK debut isnt ideal. No way should he be fav, and he's a bigger winner for me than Sir Erec.

Sir Erec is a top class flat horse who has shown a propensity for the NH game.. he's just won one of the best trials for this race impressively. It seems daft to try and crab him.

If they both get beat, it wont prove they got it wrong.

It's just personal preference. I think with NRNB on all form over the 6 runs of pic in higher quality races and the 2 for sir erec 1 of which was a good standard. pic should be fav NRNB over erec. I also prefer what fakir has shown taking all of his runs into account. Once again just personal preference.

Sir erec has a big engine. Just have to see If he can put it all together in a completely different test. I can see the engine. I can just see this all being too much for him on the day to go a real clip with battle hardened horses around him and his jumping under pressure which he hasn't had yet.

I am kind of with Scoob on this tbh, Sir Erec did have the race run to suit last time and that will not happen in the Triumph. Maybe he is a tool but we will see on the day how good he is.

Was there a stat about Flat bred horses not having a great record in the Triumph or am I imaging it??

As Paul Kealy says in the Weekender, the race on Saturday panned out as perfect as it could for a 109 rated flat horse. Literally perfect, and i do think TTT didn't run his race, as he was caught in a pocket, and probably wants to gallop rather than finish with a turn of foot.

Saying that he was still very impressive.

Jesus no need for that evertoncal!! Strong opinions welcome, language like that certainly not.

For the avoidance of doubt, challenging views/opinions is not only acceptable but actively encouraged, personal attacks/abuse is not.

No he's not because he at least has a clue on racing.....JL doesn't.

evertoncal, i know who you are off twitter, i can't see you lasting long on here pal.

Which particular bit of abuse got him suspended from Twitter?

Plenty of support today for Fakir with a few being pushed out, most notably Mister Fisher out to 16s with BFSB

I agree with that. The way he won was eye catching but quality field is not up to what will be in the supreme obviously. Klassical Dream is my pick. But what I do like about Fakir is obviously is that improvement can be vast in 4yos, and obviously a nice weight allowance. I have watched some of his races back in France and he went out in front in Aut and went too quick up front - like his pace shown in the finish at Cork and his course prep run at chelt which opposition wise you can pick holes. Nothing bar the race at the weekend in the Supreme has blown me away bar Klassical Drwam battling for the win which I like to see in horses for the Supreme. Therefore seeing Fakir not in a battle yet does act as a minus but with the odds I’ve got I’m happy with that - odds for both I’m happy with. Fakir definitely too short now - Klassical Dream for me still a decent price.

I like a horse that has run with 14+ runners also which helps with the hustle and bustle of a supreme, KD maiden was 20+ runners

Sunday race times:
Klassical Dream (11st 9lb) 3m 48.3s
Sir Erec (11st 0lb) 3m 52.6s

Sir Erec (11st 0lb) 3m 52.6s

Noted this somewhere on the forum too Archie, though with the exact detail just the difference in times. 9lb and 4.3s is a fair amount!

This comment from Henderson not been overlooked?

"The plan is to come back to two, I would think. We’ll see what happens tomorrow."
