Ps, I have so many great moments, but for some reason, gutted that cause of causes didn't have the chance to make it a four timer. Cost me a grand I may add.

I've only been on this forum for a while and can see you guys take a lot of pleasure in anti post bets and beating the bookies, so I just wonder what you prefer. I like getting Winners at this meeting and I purposely aim for as many winners as possible. I managed 19 in 2016, 17 last year and 20 this year. I realise you have to back a few horses to do this, but I turned £600 into £3k. Back to my original point, is it about winners or just about getting the buzz of a great price months before.

Nice one ziggym. Preferably a great winning price months before

Still in a bit of shock, I thought 19 was a dream only a few years ago, but preview nights, this forum and a little bit of gut feeling has given me 56 winners in the past three years. I don't quite understand how, but thanks for all your contributions, whether u think u have them or not. God, 364 days to wait for the next one.... Cheers guys.

Only 361 Ziggym

I'd say we have a very wide spread of people and approaches.

Personally I don't take as much pride in "number of winners" because I back multiple horses in literally every race, and in some cases I have every horse in a race covered.

So it is a little mis-leading when I say this year I had 21 out of 28 winners - as I literally couldn't not have in at least 4 races

However, that doesn't mean to say I don't still get a buzz with a winner or a 1-2-3 in a race because I do...

In the end it has to come down to making a profit though... my method of trying to beat the SP for every horse in the line-up I enjoy (it keeps me entertained for at least 9 months of the year) and also means I am on some favourites at very big prices. This is only my second year with that as my "mindset/plan" and I've had my best two years ever... so I won't be stopping ... however I know some people will have won the same amount but staked a lot less.

About average festival for me. Finished about £300-400 up but should have been better as my main fancy for the week Farclas won. Shantou Flyer and Topofthegame were both heartbreakers for me. They would have turned it into a great week had they got up.

I’m only a small time layer as don’t have the balls for it, but happy to finish with 100% success for the week by place laying Black Corton, Kings Socks, Redicean as well as laying Un Des Sceaux ,Getabird and Sam Spinner.

All in all a great weeks racing, but feel a little disappointed not to come out on top a little more.

finished about £330.00 up. would have been so much better if i hadn't cashed out my antepost bets !!! But hey ho a profit is a profit. Will be betting antepost next year in win any race as much as possible.

Finished the week a little over £5400 up. Once again my week faded towards the end and I really struggled on Friday. All the traveling, drinking and lack of sleep really affected my punting on the Friday.

I'll do a much more details post on this in the coming weeks but for now:

Staked 1326 pts
Return 1768 pts

2018 +350 pts

Which was my best return. Previous years:

2017 +202 pts
2016 +147 pts
2015 +84 pts
2014 +42 pts
2013 +8 pts
2012 +20 pts
2011 +8 pts

Outlays

Day 1 - 37pts + 15 on the day
Day 2 - 40pts + 15 on the day
Day 3 - 25pts + 15 on the day
Day 4 - 50pts + 15 on the day
AR&M - 77pts
Dead - 105pts (46pts returned NRNB)

Net - 348pts

Returns

Day 1 - 63pts
Day 2 - 127pts
Day 3 - 121pts
Day 4 - 144pts

455pts

Thought I was at about 300 points outlay, and happy enough to see it was just under once I got all my NRNB money back.

Spent about 50 points over the week, so rounded it up to 15 per day, because I know I did a few 1/2pt doubles etc. on the last couple days.

Won just under 400pts in 2016, which was the first year I'd gone at it from around Easter, and Lost about 50 pts last year.

Still recovering. What a week. I had £1,080 in AP bets, budgeted £300 per day and ended up winning £22,000, so £19,720 profit!! Still can't believe it.

Day 1: Not a good start, but saved by Mr Whitaker in the last that brought me back to evens.
Day 2: Samcro @ 10/1 got me off to a flyer. Tiger Roll & Relegate capped off a superb day.
Day 3: Shattered Love, Delta Work & The Storyteller £10 EW treble returned £10,166. I also had them all to win individually.
Day 4: I had been taking AP positions on BBB @ 14/1 for months and backed him strongly on course - £3,800 . Farlcas was the last leg of a £10 EW treble with Tiger Roll & Balko Des Flos returning £3,600. I also had a drunken celebratory bet on Pacha @ 25/1

Highlight of the week was winning my mum £5,000 on a £10 EW Acca which was replacing a mothers day gift she didn't like. Shattered Love, Delta Work, Balko Des Flos & Bacardy's which would have returned £136,000. I couldn't get through to her because she wasn't home so my dad managed to log on, cash out, and cover (signal on course is terrible for me so I cannot put into words how stressful those 40 minutes were between the Ryanair and Stayers Hurdle).

All in all a week I will never forget. Thank you to everyone on the forum for their kind words and well done to everyone. Looking forward to the next 12 months planning Cheltenham 2019!!

Well done Charlie. It's brilliant to hear someone on here have a week like that.

I'd recommend buying something that will trigger the memories of this week. You don't get many moments like you've had this week and they need to be cherished.

Congrats again mate :encouragement:

Well done Charlie. I had a good week but still going to work tomorrow.

Cheers pal, sounds like you had a great week too.

Well done again charlie, I would echo FM's thoughts about buying yourself something as a memento, not very often several come off like that, but when they do, man it's a great feeling

That's fantastic stuff!!

Really well done, Charlie.

Echo what the others suggested about treating yourself to something tangible, which will always remind of you the great week you had.

Absolutely phenomenal charlie. So chuffed to hear these kind of stories, even more so from people on here. :encouragement::triumphant:

On buying a memento...no idea if it's of interest but there's an artist called Terence Gilbert who paints onto racecards. I've actually got this Sprinter piece of his first Queen Mother win (the likes of Kauto, Hurricane Fly, Bob's Worth and more are also on the site). He does commissions as well, you could always look at getting one of/a montage of the 3 winners on day 3? ;)

I second Jonos idea. Some of the paintings at the gallery are incredible!

Superb work Charlie!
I had a free bet on the Delta Work / Storyteller double - but that treble of yours was inspired!!!

I am a small stakes punter, but definitely my best festival.

Need to find some time to do some analysis, but up 4-figures from very small stakes.
Can’t quite believe it!!

Could/would have been so much better if Apples Jade or Cause of Causes had come in.

Sounds like most of us did OK :encouragement:
