Ryanair Chase 2018

Does anyone know any plans for Valseur Lido. I took the big price on the exchange when Scoob mentioned it a whole back

He is entered in the Ryanair but I suspect he will go Gold Cup (I have him at 80/1 in GC) . I was impressed with his 5th in the Leopardstown Chase after having been off a year. Shaped well throughout the race and just got a little tired.

Wait and see. I think he'll end up in Ryanair

I am surprised UDS is still available at 3/1 NRNB.

I don't think that is good value personally... I'm actually surprised he went off as short as 7/4 last year. I distinctly rememebr him being a 7/2 chance a week or so before!

Was a really weak race last year, could be again this year but I'd rather back him at 7/4 knowing the field was weak that 3/1 with the risk of him not even being the best horse in the race?

**Lovable as I find him!

It's not juicy by any stretch, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was shorter. Looking at the market, other than Douvan, there's not much there that worries me.

Ruby would ride Yorkhill over UDS ... I think he said he'd ride Yorkhill in ANY race still despite bombing out in the Christmas Chase... so make of that what you will :highly_amused:

He said that on Sat morning didn't he. I am in the mindset that Yorkhill goes CC. Matt did tease Ruby saying there is no way he would want them running in the same race and I don't think they will but who knows.

Sporting Life with a much more reasonable and detailed approach to Frodon than I had...

However, the Cheltenham factor can never be underestimated at the Festival. And this was Frodon’s first run at Cheltenham since that December Gold Cup win. He’s unbeaten on the New Course over fences with a record of 2/2 in two terrifically competitive handicaps, the Ryanair is run on the New Course and the 16/1 looks plenty big enough.

He has a touch of the Poquelin’s about him, for sure. Also trained by Nicholls, Poquelin won two December Gold Cups, was second in the race Frodon won on Saturday and finished second and fourth behind Alberta’s Run in two Ryanairs.

For the stats folks no winner of the Crest Nicholson Handicap Chase has gone on to win at the festival.

Am I the only one who really fancies Top Notch. Should be reaching his peak whilst DDS is likely to be going the other way. Top Notch is my banker for the festival but it looks like I am in the minority. Think I am looking for a bit of reassurance - am I looking through rose tinted glasses?

There's plenty of love for Top Notch on here James. I think he'll run a solid race and it'll take a good one to beat him. Hopefully Yorkhill does the business this afternoon because I'd be worried for TN if Ruby rode him in this.

Plenty like him and are on. Just most people looking elsewhere at the current prices for some value

Thanks Chaps. Good to hear that 2 canny judges like yourselves think Top Notch has a good chance.

I’m a top notch fan too

All the fancy prices have been taken on Yorkhill on Betfair, down to 12.5, was 24 this morning when I looked, still 12/1 with SJ or 8/1 NRNB, anyone fancy him for this?

Yeah backed him for this before Dublin. Form at the distance at the festival and stable have no problem slotting a "better" horse in this race, plus Min regarded as a pure 2 miler
