Ryanair 2020

Not sure myself!

Off levels, if Footpad isn't a 5L better horse than Voix Du Rubbish and Rubbish Steel, I'll turn into a slug and throw myself into a salt mine.

Just listening to Hobbsy here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UusC8Mx1aGk&app=desktop

The way he goes on about Defi definitely staying the trip.
The way he goes on about Tingle Creek being easiest division "at the moment"
The way he goes on about Sandown being stiffer than Cheltenham and that's WHY it'd suit

I'm now much less sure that if he wins tomorrow that he goes for the QMCC.

Could be reading too much into it, and it's not JUST Hobbsy's choice, but he's 8/1 to win the Ryanair, the 7/2 NRNB price is now looking like something I'd be annoyed not to be on.

Then again, with Min in the race, how short would they actually make him with a win tomorrow?

:concern:

Personally I have two cardinal rules. The first is don't back a bleeder. Footpad was favourite when a well beaten last in 2019 Ryanair when he bled. On his comeback he didn't come under pressure when Balko De Flos didn't show and similarly he didn't come under pressure in the King George. For me he makes a book on Sunday between Real Steel and Hardline as excellent bets. BTW I have similar problem with Laurina when she runs next

Hmmm, yes/no P

It’s all about IF, don’t know any stats on bleeders , does anyone?

IF Footpad doesn’t then he pisses up IMO

IF my aunt had bollocks she’d be my uncle :highly_amused:

Conundrum

Hobbs will obviously have input but won’t make final decision

Large majority think QMCC , personally think Ryanair more winnable

I’m on early doubles Ryanair with Envoi Allen 10/1 (Bally ) so have had to cover

Conundrum :concern:

Think Hobbs will have the choice in this case.
There is nothing in his way for either race for Frank and JP to be worried about.
It will just be the manner of the race today that may influence one way or another. And the ground and opposition in March.
I personally think he would need to beat these easily to go champion chase, and not get carried away with another victory over an older horse who had his ground etc. He isn't getting any quicker at 12, and that's a fact.

Interesting Q that you think that and I v much respect ( pant pant pant :highly_amused:) your opinion

If that is actually the case then Hobbsy must be a decent poker player?

Almost no chance he goes Ryanair. He's won the 2 biggest qmcc trials. And now is in the 3rd against the best around on heavy ground.

The quotes and articles with Hobbs, imo are basically bookmakers spiel . The likes of envoi Allen supreme and champion stuff. That are designed to make dough for less enlightened.

Not your best comment.
I'll bring it back up in March.

Fair enough Kev:devilish: For me Too many still think Too much of Footpad. Reminiscing over his novice days when he looked a potential star. He’s done nowt since bar bleeding, falling, getting thumped, oh and beating Mala Beach

If Defi gets beat today and Altior wins his prep looking back to his best then I reckon Defi will go Ryanair.

Not according to some.
Target's set already, no matter the ground conditions or the opposition and form going into the week of the festival.
Obviously they may be thinking about the owner's wishes (but he's a better gambler, winner and thinker than any of us)
And he's not stupid.

It's probably more than I don't rate Voix Du Rubbish or Rubbish Steel personally :highly_amused:

Footpad's King George run was good enough for me to think he's better than those two at a shorter trip.

I thought Footpad ran a cracker in the KG just didn’t stay 3m while CDO did hence him powering away from
Floundering horses.

Gave me enough hope that he will last 2m4 at Chelt though

A curiosity of the early entries is that Footpad is entered in the QM and Ryanair over fences but only the Stayers over the smaller obstacles.

I still think Defi should come here as well, will get outpaced in the CC and stay on late in the day to grab 2nd

The only tingle creek winner who didnt run in the champion chase the same season was Kauto Star. (In recent times at least).

Not a chance that DDS wont line up as fav for the champion chase.
