Ryanair 2019

Bachasson I would be worried about his jumping, been to cheltenham twice, UR over hurdles and didn't get over the second last year.. big turn off for me unless he can brush up his jumping..

Was just about to say the same

Yeah I backed him for the stayers. Would interest me if he ended up here though.

Not sure on the trip + future plans but Darasso comes out of that race well at the weights....wonder if he'll pitch up somewhere

L.Hyslop SL article. Music to my ears. Lets hope her inbox isn't full of screeching offendables.

When hearing of Jefferson’s plans for Waiting Patiently, however, we must not of course indulge in the collective amnesia that overlooks the fistful of objections she raised against running in the Ryanair last season, when the horse was thriving.
Back then she was concerned about Cheltenham’s undulating track, whether the ground would be sufficiently testing, his propensity for novicey errors and his need for greater time between races than recovery from winning the Grade One Ascot Chase in mid-February would have permitted.
As the clock ticks on this season – which started belatedly for him due to a slow recovery from a setback but while the ground was unsuitably quick anyway – the worry is that at least two of those four objections risk being equally valid this time around and one of them, the going, perhaps a bigger issue.
The ground was unusually soft at last year’s Festival. As I suggested in the first Road of this series, if connections were ever going to run at Cheltenham on their professed terms, that “may have been the gift horse” they looked squarely at.

I've said before on here that Lydia does ramble.
it could have been much simpler put.

R Jefferson is a twat.

Ruth Jefferson had 'duel' trainer on her Twitter bio. I politely private messaged her to say it's spelt dual. She changed it the next day but didn't acknowledge my message. True story :devilish:

hope you threw down a glove emoji at the end of the PM :devilish:

Is it not common knowledge that the owners were on holiday and told her not to declare the horse at Cheltenham ?

Hoping top notch can do the business today. Personally think he's a massively under rated horse. And would have a good chance here.

Massively underrated how? Look at his SP's.

He's far too big for this. Compared to a number of the opposition imo. Therefore at top price he's massively under rated for this.

I personally think it's a no brainer for Al Boum Photo to come here, his form figures over at 3m and over are 5/F/PU yet has a really strong record at 2m5 or under. I'd fancy him and Monalee to run them into the ground and i think ABF is a better horse then the one that finished 2nd by less then 1l to Monalee at Leopardstown last year over the distance.

If you asked me pre xmas I probably would have gone for Politilogue but the fact that they've even attempted the KG distance with him will have taken plenty out of the horse and i just can't shake the similarties with Azertyiop and how he never looked the same for them stepping him for the KG in 2004. Paul Nicholls, John Hales and a dashing grey.

He's a 3m + horse all day long he's The best form of any staying novice last season overall. And just returned to show even further improvement giving 10 pounds to last year's hennesy winner . The form you've just plucked up there . The 5th is in a grade 1 over hurdles, very good form and the highest quality race hed ran in at that time. The Fwas when in rubys opinion hed have been a close 2nd in the rsa. (Everyone knows my own opinion) and the pulled up was when he was going to be an easy winner of the 3m grade 1 at punchestown. But for towned to lose his mind.

I honestly thought he was a lot further away from Monalee and PP in the RSA when falling although I think he still would have finished 3rd and relating to the Punchestown race, he wouldn't have been an "easy winner" had Invitation Only and Monalee not taken each other out. All if and buts.

I just can't back a horse without even a place to his name attempting 3m and over going into a Gold Cup personally even if luck hasn't gone his way. I know he's entered in the Irish Gold Cup ina few weeks so we'll see after that. There's no getting away that his best form has been over 2m5 and although it's shaping up to be a red hot renewal this year there's holes in plenty of these and ABP definitely could take advantage.

He wouldn’t have been a close second in the RSA. He’d have probably got second. But not a close second.

It's amazing how people see races differently. I would also have him fighting it out for 2nd.

I probably need to watch the race again, which I'll do now.

Ruby said on RTV he thinks he would have finished 2nd, didn't say close 2nd.

I'm not sure he'd have got second. Davy was still traveling sweetly when ABP hit the deck, and put distance between himself and Monalee between the last two.

ABP might have finished 2nd but, to my eye, he was odds on to finish 3rd.

Yeah he looked beat to my eye. Monalee was knackered too.
