Ryanair 2019

Charbel disappointed the way he ran to the line from approaching the last.

Was there any quote about where he might go next? I have two bets at 33/1 and can't decide whether to cash one or both out

Kim Bailey will let the dust settle on Charbel's defeat at Kempton on Saturday before committing to future targets.

The eight-year-old has enjoyed a fine season so far - winning a Chepstow handicap and finishing second to Politologue in a Grade Two at Ascot before delivering the big-race victory he has long promised in the Edredon Bleu Chase, better known as the Peterborough, at Huntingdon.

He went in search of another win in Listed company over the weekend, but could finish only third behind Nicky Henderson's Top Notch and the Paul Nicholls-trained Black Corton.

Bailey said: "He's fine. I don't think the watered ground really suit him - he just couldn't bounce off it like he can on better ground.

"He's come out of the race absolutely fine, so we'll see how he is in the next week or so - and make a plan from there."

Charbel's only Cheltenham Festival entry is in the Ryanair Chase, and next month's Ascot Chase is a potential stepping-stone along the way.

"He's got all those options, so we'll see," said Bailey.

I’ve been thinking about getting him added to some handicap markets

First run in over a year means he will be dropped below 150 imo which could be a great mark, almost always considered a stayer but the pace to win the JLT so would have options

Yeah, he'd interest me in the Brown Plate...

Thanks for that, that is what I wanted to hear :encouragement:

Still, overall it was underwhelming.

Min supported vs Footpad at DRF over 2miles- will this possible face-off decide who goes where? They did say Min wouldn't run vs Altior again, but what happens if Min beats Footpad over 2miles?

Surely the Ryanair might become Footpad's target then...

On form Min should be favourite, maybe that's why?

Not only that but would not surprise me if the money comes for Footpad nearer the time, after the drift, because of the money for Min.

Don't see it having any bearing on this race though, Min goes close, should be winning it, only Monalee & Shattered Love that I have down as potential spoilers now, and SL looks GC bound despite my early thoughts on her.

Wouldn't be one bit surprised to see Min go QMCC and Footpad here.

Why have you changed your mind on Shattered Love for this race CoD?

Has no bearing if Min beats Footpad over 2miles? Surely that would put Footpad's participation in the QMCC in doubt? He clearly has stayed further in the past.

On form Min should be fav, but i presume most have assumed Min would be campaiged over the intermediate trip?

Footpad needs to go up in trip and Min is a strong travelling 2 miler. Makes sense :devilish:

Your getting ahead of yourselves there. Look at bf who aren't nrnb. And the odds of min qmcc And footpad ryanair.

Same as footpad pad GC paid for the power towers new years party when we had this chat earlier in the season.

He has to get a prep in somehwere.

Min would and should be fav over Footpad over any trip. 2m to 2m5f anyway.

If Min beats Footpad over 2m I don't think they would feel obliged to change there plans (if there plan is to send Min Ryanair)

Irish Gold Cup entry, word hasn't changed from connections either, prices are hard to gauge as she has drifted for both races anyway.

I suspect we will get confirmation for ourselves after the Irish Gold Cup, IF she doesn't perform in that she'll be back down in trip I am sure.

That's a big IF anyway.

Don't you get the feeling they think Footpad is better than Min over any trip?

Sorry, yeah, with regards to Footpad it may have a bearing, I was focused on Min (for whatever reason :devilish: ) think he stays in the Ryanair regardless, they want to avoid Altior and to be quite honest if you were Ricci would you want to see your horse chasing the arse of the best horse in training for a third time or attempt to give it the best chance possible in an easier race?

Min drifting on betfair here, did I miss something?

I think they did, I am not sure they still can?

If Footpad beats Min then nothing changes either in terms of targets?

Don't think Footpad would get closer to Altior than Min did last year.

I suppose he's more unexposed, he hasn't met him yet so we don't KNOW (obviously it looks a bloomin' obvious case he can't)... whereas Min, we KNOW, cannot.
