RSA Chase 2020

I feel like I have to get Champ in the book at the 10/1 with WH before he's a bonkers price.

Will have to find something to roll on to him today.... that needs to win because if I have to do it twice I might as well have just backed him at 10/1

Come on forum

and don't suggest LBAR anyone :p

Leave it.
10-1 7-1 4-1 meh
He's unlikely to go odds on as the uk and irish won't clash before march.
So if you fancy him by the time NRNB comes in, then steam in.

Dont cry if it loses lol.
But Try 10% of your stake on goodwin (10/3) @ hills
3.55 auteuil. Where champ is top price @10/1.

Might be a scary watch,
As He's riddled with talent, but up to date has pulled like a train, he was beat last time by a nice one in gammin d'oudaries. It wont be long before he learns his job and is winning better races than this.

If it loses you can price boost champ from 10s to 11. So you've lost nothing, in trying.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet i've been off the forum today so haven't read much. Has anyone seen Elliotts Drinmore horses over the last few years? All go on to run in the RSA. Does he think Samcro will be suited to the 3 miles more than the JLT trip? Trainers love proven tactics.

Thought I do think it's certainly a good thing to focus on (trainers targeting and repeating races / patterns) I wouldn't read too much into the Drinmore. I posted a few days ago showing the list of horses who had ran in the race and where they then lined up at the festival. It ranges across the entire board from RSA to JLT to NHC and even Arkle.

On Elliott himself though - he's only had a few runners in the JLT over the years...

2019 - Mengli Khan - Arkle was always the plan but he completely flopped in the 2 trials at Leopardstown
2018 - Shattered Love - Elliott would have had her in (and stated leading up to it) the RSA. Gigginstown switched to the JLT last minute
2017 - No runner
2016 - No runner
2015 - No runner

I just don't think they've really had a horse outlined for the race before. Being Gigginstown it's been heavily weighted to the 3m+ races.
This year there's likely going to have to be a runner in the JLT. The same was thought last year of course before setbacks, the ground and Samcro staying hurdling meant Gigginstown/Elliott didn't have as much of an array of horses as first imagined.

And most importantly even trainers who regularly have runners in the JLT have no 'typical route', despite on paper the Drinmore and Flogas appearing to be JLT trials and the Florida Pearl and Neville Hotel Chases RSA. Mullins JLT 'route' is all the place as he just fits his horses in and around eachother with one usually slotting up here. The same will probably be the case with Elliott this year as he's approaching that level of firepower. Even more so when you'll have Gigginstown in the background able to make the final call.

With the JLT I take more focus on how horses could slot in alongside eachother rather than a route taken with other other horses. Absolutely with say the Arkle and RSA but not this one. Plus this year Elliott might even end up having his JLT, RSA and NHC runner in the Drinmore imo

What is making you lean that way Jack?

As I said I've backed any race too so it's clearly in my mind but interested to see why you'd lean away from here with him... is it just because Carefully Selected it on the scene?

I just think he'd be every bit as effective over the intermediate trip. Race close up with the pace or even lead and ping them. He can be quite keen too.

Carefully Selected definitely would be my idea of his 3miler at this stage.

"He's a staying chaser. I'd be putting him in my three mile bracket. He'll run whenever the ground comes up right and whatever chase happens to come up. I'm not too worried about the ytrip for his beginners' chase. But I think he'll be an RSA horse, hopefully, if evreything goes right.

I'm adding him at 33/1 and 25/1 with that being said.

Thanks for that .
I’ve him 20/1Any Race but will top up after that

"Champ has worked and schooled extremely well so the intention is very much for him to make his chase debut

@NewburyRacing"

on Thursday!

...Champ into 8-1 for this with Hills.

Skybet have Champ @ 40/1 for Kauto Star/RSA double in case anyone is interested. I want to get him in the book this seems the ideal opportunity to do so with a couple of free bets and 1pt staked.

Although the odds on this seem nice, trying to get a horse to the festival healthy and in the right race is tough. Throw another future race into that bet and I can see why the odds are so generous.

The right odds for a couple of free bets. That could be said for any ante post bet tbf.

I've added this as well - took me a few days as i'm heavily restricted on sky now but managed to build it up each day. Think FM flagged it a week or so ago.

There's other horses I fancy over Champ for this but I think it's actually a fair price for the double. Henderson likes the Kauto Star as a prep race for the RSA, with Santini, Might Bite, Hadrian's Approach and Bob's Worth in recent years all lining up in the race at Kempton. And the race should also suit him very well. Santini went off 11/10Fav at Kempton last year. Though he may not be that short a price I really don't think it'll be far off. The potential for the staying division is heavily weighted to the Irish and i actually think his competition in England may be quite sparse - specifically at Christmas time. I think Dickie Diver will be the better of the pair long term but he's still fairly green and inexperienced so I can Nicky giving him a softer approach leading up the festival. He'd also look a similar type to Bob's Worth and Santini who struggled at Kempton. Bright Forecast is another I'm keen on and Kempton would certainly be an option. He did miss his intended Chase debut at Huntingdon at the weekend which was the plan. I've not heard or seen anything but I'd guess some form of setback. Could be minor and plenty of time still but could set him back slightly. And even then although over another trip sure to suit he still has the Ballymore form to turn around.

He'd want to be winning the Kauto Star for me to really fancy him for the RSA but I think he's got a very good chance of doing so and could be a very short price for it

Whereabouts on the site is it please?

KSS - I think they’ve taken the NH and Cheltenham specials down for some reason, they’re usually under specials then request a bets...

I finally went to back this yesterday and found it under National Hunt specials and Cheltenham requestabets was 33/1 and 18/1....haha... had the small amount they’d allow me at 33s

They've started taking these Specials down during racing. They'll be back up later tonight.
