RSA Chase 2020

Would Carefully Selected be Willie's main RSA hope this season?

He is probably his shortest in the market, so he may be running at Christmas with Willie having in mind he may be his best 3-Miler for March.

PP have him @ 6/1 for next Sundays Grade1 Novice over 3ml. Behind such as BOD and Minella Indo

Probably allaho. Who's out at Christmas.

10/1 fav across the board for National Hunt chase. few firms shortened up today

If Carefully Selected is going to run in the NH Chase, Willie must be pleased with whatever else he has for the RSA. Fingers crossed Next Destination is moving the right way, could hopefully be him and Allaho.

Based on what he’s said, he appears to really really like Allaho. Seemed to be the one he kept going back to all summer when asked about his exciting prospects for this season.

I still think it’s going to take a massively above-average RSA winner if anything can beat champ. He looks the real deal.

I thought the same with allaho.

And also unrelated but along the same lines, and I'm not backing him. but the donnelys have ramillies for the bumper. They had a whole host of nice bumper horses that are going over hurdles and would have qualified for the bumper, either ramillies is good. Or they know something else at home is better.

I'm sticking to champ whatever comes out.
Think iv the irish side closely covered with champagne classic who i like.
But champ is no doubt my main hope. Wouldnt be massively suprised if something hes already beaten is 2nd. Like black op, dashel drasher. Pym....

Really like allaho as well, just waiting for a run.

He’s entered in 2m4f race I’m sure over Christmas, think he’s still 20/1 I’d pointed that out a while ago seems very fair.

Very little runs and built to be a chaser I think he will only get better for both experience and fences.

I think Champ is the worst priced favourite of any Cheltenham race. He’s clearly got an engine yes but the jumping ability really is bad. If he has a good day then he’s got a chance but nothing more than that. 7/2 is an awful price considering the opposition. On the flip side of that, how Minella Indo is 9/1 is an absolute mystery to me. He should be half that price in my opinion. Allaho is a real classy horse who seemed to be weak in a finish last year. A year on and a year stronger we could be seeing a very good horse this term. Nothing will travel better through the race as long as he can jump a fence. Obviously this is factored into his price and is well worth a punt at 20/1. Having said that, I really am pretty confident I’ve backed the winner of the race in Minella Indo. What he did in the spring last term should really make him the one to beat.

Champs jumping is not as bad as is being made out on here. He jumps fine.

We’ve all got an opinion and I just can’t agree. I’d say he’s clumsy at best and to be honest if he has a clear round of jumping I still don’t think he’ll get the job done against the 2 I’ve mentioned. Can’t see many people having any sizeable bets now at 7/2 but obviously hes got a chance so if you have bets on at bigger prices then fair play. My point is now as we stand he’s a terrible price. If you compare him to Samcro at similar prices in different races I know which one I’d be backing.

You think Samcro jumps poorly ?

I think he jumps well but it was a soft fall, Champ has made worse mistakes and stayed on his feet. For what it's worse I think both win there respective races. Champ jumps well enough for me I don't see him falling a lot was made of his last run but apart from when he jumped into the loose horse (which couldn't be helped) he jumped fine.

Champ needs to switch back to hurdling if he is to have any chance of winning at the festival.

The 3M Grade 1 Chase at Leopardstown next Sunday will be the best staying novic Chase run this season.

Entries include:-
Battleoverdoyen
Carefully Selected
Champagne Classic
Faugheen
Minella Indo
Samcro (may route to 2M3&1/2F Grade 1)

Anything that wins that by 3 lengths or more deserves to be heading the RSA market, but will still end up being listed second behind Champ.

Very bold comment to make! I think champ is a worthy favourite, but wouldnt say he is a banker! Think the juice in his price is gone and would expect at least one of the Irish to run well and be backed in over the next few weeks. Think there is value still in this race, especially ew money. I only have champ at 10s, while I know people will be sitting comfortably on at least twice that in a very good position. But Minello Indo or BOD still in the frame, then down in the market ALLAHO (25s), BRIGHT FORECAST (25s) and your mate DANNY WHIZZBANG (20s) are tempting at the prices if wanting to take champ on.

Scooby also convinced me to have few quid on Champagne Classic although my gut tells me The National Hunt chase!

To summarise, my thoughts, Champ looked tailor made for this race, the one to beat, but still value out there for punters.
