RSA Chase 2020

Very hot race. Champ will go very short in RSA should he win. Will be tough but think he's up to it

I highly rate the opposition, hence already taking a punt on VDF for the RSA itself. Champ will be held up , can he get up to win against what I think are high quality 2 1/2 milers, im not sure.

VDF at 13/2 tomorrow is a bet imo.

Not sure I get the VDF is all class myself.
On what piece of form ?
He's not consistent.

Hed' have won the champion stayers at punchestown. Re watch it. Hes also beaten ITCF over 2 1/2 another horse I rate.
Hes ran very well over 2m behind the likes of buveur dair given the fact that he used to be very gassy, and wound up,
Imo h'es now a better race horse and learned to relax behind the bridle.

And imo i have always thought hed be an even better staying chaser, given time to mature. 155 over hurdles is not to snubbed at. Hes had his prep run giving weight away to 2 good horses. I'm genuinely excited to see what he can do.

What does very gassy mean ?
I'm half convinced, and will watch him closely tomorrow.
Think he's been messed around mydelf.

This is the conundrum. Currently don't have him in the book (did the KS double on skybet), very short if he wins, but it's not the ideal trip, but he has the beating of these on paper. I might have to roll the dice tonight

To me, means very fresh, keen, and on edge. Particularly when running 1st time up in the season.

Very hard to quantify, but I genuinely think he was mentally immature. And has got over it. Rather than it being a life long trait.

They've over ran him previously for sure,

He's potentially interesting at the price for the festival, personally though, if he wins tomorrow it'd be worrying for the others. One run over fences, one US- straight back over hurdles. They are trying him very high for his first run back over them + i'd be pleased with a place from him. I'd be more worried with Black Op tbh for tomorrow. Even then Champ should be winning this if he's all that. I sort of hope he does so he goes very short.

I think Vision Des Flos gets beat tomorrow, before going down in trip. Champ or Black Op will not be easy to beat first time up. He has form that puts him behind Samcro & Black Op, so I can see him avoiding the JLT, as good as I think he is I do think the form is likely to be upheld with at least Samcro, if not Black Op also.

I just don't see him as a 3 miler, pretty much all of his bigger defeats and lower places have been between 2m 5f & 3m.

Although the race tomorrow looks hot, it has resulted in the Grade 2 over 3m on Saturday becoming an absolute joke!

Reserve Tank
Ardlethen
Danny Whizzbang
Samburu Shujaa

Talking about the Ryanair diluting races at the Festival, why don't they merge the Friday Grade 2 over 2m4f with the Saturday Grade 2 over 3m. We'd have more runners and a deeper field, worthy of a Grade 2 novice.

Going to make Reserve Tank a tricky betting proposition.
He's far too short for the JLT. The rash of money a few weeks ago, appeared to possibly be stable related. So JLT looks the likely end game.
But should he win Saturday, he'll have beaten absolutely nothing of note.
But I'll have the sneaking feeling he may be better at Cheltenham in Spring ??
Even though he's yet to race at the track ??
Tricky one to weigh up as a potential winner, but not backable at the current price.
Wish they'g go RSA.

I'm not sure Reserve Tank is even running. I hope he does otherwise its an even more farcical Grade 2.

I started the season on the RSA trail with him but I really have no idea. As you say, winning that race is probably not great form and it will pay to follow the form of the Frdiay race instead.

Thought giving 8lb to Top Notch over hurdles and only beaten 1/2 length was a bloody good run. Worth noting hes only 6 so should be open to plenty of improvement over fences if he takes to them this time.

It was a good enough run but he curled up in the run in imo. He should have won that race from there, giving 8lb or not.

Very poor turnout indeed! Was also an RSA backer of reserve tank so if he does indeed run hoping a for a good win. I’d be surprised if Tizzards know his trip yet, talked him up as a possible Arkle horse!

Think Ardlethen will enjoy the testing ground more than RT. Won in deep ground at Chepstow last time.

I’ve had a decent bet on Champ tomorrow lads.

On him for the RSA since the early pages of this thread and I expect him to be very short in 24 hours.

I think that debut was very very good.

Black Op is a very good horse, deceptively quick, and his jumping looks to have improved.

I cant have Champ at the prices over this short trip. I think he needs 3 miles. CHAMP is good but i think last years novice hurdlers are over rated.

I have backed Black OP 7/2 and have also backed Black OP for the JLT at 10/1 EW with Bet 365. Cash out option, i think there's a possibility he will shorten after today.
